Is this YouGov a world wide survey Patsy?
Hey now those Commies are telling their people not to travel to Australia as "we are too racist". What a joke that is. Is this smoke and mirrors or another holding us to ransom attempt after reading that most Aussies no longer want to buy their below standard products. Are they running scared should we say stuff using our iron ore to make your steel.. we will make our own, use it for our infrastructure then export the excess to friendlier markets?

    @Patsy Faye.
China tells Australia to 'protect the rights and interests' of Chinese citizens. How is this for the height of hypocrisy Patsy. Australia is now getting pi**ed off with China big time. This week Scott Morrison made that patently clear when he said, "Australia is an open trading nation, but I'm never going to trade our values in response to coercion from wherever it comes. One thing Australia will always do is act in our national interest and never be intimidated by threats.". Good for you Sco Mo. A thinly veiled crack at China.. dont think so. More a thickly veiled crack and one that is sure to get the Global Times..the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party.. hot under the collar. They wrote a couple of days ago that it is time Australia 'stopped playing deputy sheriff to America'.. or words to that affect.

The article that you quoted is about racism against Chinese that are visiting in Australia, and racist attacks on them because of the covid virus being originally from China.
When it first started, our president shut down all travel to the US from china, even when some of the people in our government hadn’t yet realized that it was necessary to do this.
Did Australia just continue to have Chinese (who might be sick) flying into your country, @Craig Wilson , and not ban flights from China like we did here ?

As far as actual racial incidents against Chinese who live here, or were here for some other reason, I don’t think that we had much problem with that happening .
A few people declared that they would never eat Chinese food again, but I don’t think that there was any kind of violence against the Chinese who live or work here.
I am surprised that racist attacks would be acceptable in Australia either, especially if tourism was not being banned there.

I am having trouble understanding the connection between racist violence towards Chinese tourists in Australia with the problems of trade with China . Can you please explain this connection, Craig ?
How can attacking Chinese tourists help anything ?

If Chinese people are being attacked, that is shameful and totally unwarranted
Its the Chinese government where the problems lie
(did not look at the link)

Here is the basic gist of the news article, @Patsy Faye :

China says Australia should "face up to its problems" and protect Chinese nationals after its warnings to citizens not to travel or study in Australia due to "racist incidents" were rejected by the Australian Government.
    Key points:
    • China's Foreign Ministry said Australia needed to "take concrete measures" to protect Chinese nationals
    • Australian universities say accusations campuses are unsafe are not true
    • Foreign Minister Marise Payne rejects China's "disinformation"
Australian ministers have dismissed the warnings, which were issued by China's education and tourism ministries over the past week, as "rubbish" and "disinformation" contributing to a "climate of fear".

On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the warnings were "based on a host of facts", citing media stories and complaints to China's embassy in Australia.

"We advise Australia to face up to its problems, do some soul-searching and take concrete measures to protect the safety, rights and interests of Chinese nationals in Australia," Ms Hua said at a press conference.

I have to wonder exactly what "rights" Chinese nationals have in Australia??? (Besides the "right" to GO HOME if they feel threatened.)

So are we @Yvonne Smith.. so are we. This Global Times rant stems from a spate of Chinese (nationals) students being verbally attacked on campus. There were also several random attacks on people of Chinese ethnicity. Both incidents were by a tiny minority of narrow minded bigots that didnt like the shape of their victims eyes. China is using these incidents as a lever to blackmail us on trade issues.

The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act protects the rights of international students in Australia. The ESOS Act covers everything from financial protections and laws protecting the rights of international students through to work rights, student welfare and complaints. Aug 19, 2016

I think 'China' has to do some 'soul searching'
Yes there will always be idiots in all countries that will condemn the Chinese people for the virus outbreak, we should be
mindful of that. But we don't need to be preached to by China government
and of course the media will do their bit to promote tension

China's foreign ministry rejects suggestions a large-scale hacking attack on Australia came from China.

Why does this not surprise me. China never accepts blame for anything. Even the killer virus they exported to the western world.
Back to the hacking accusations. Our federal government is not exactly saying it is the commies but several security agencies are maintaining the hacking "has Beijing's fingerprints all over it". Is this yet another 'punishment' by this insidious regime over Australian govs announcement that our Foreign Investment Review Board will look deeply into any future proposals by a certain foreign power to invest in sensitive Australian companies.

America and the UK are among other western nations to have been cyber hacked over the past 12 months.

This is very concerning. Seems while Australia was busy building its trading partnership over past decades with the Beijing regime the commies were secretly buying up our country. Recent research is showing that their investment in my island nation is two to three times larger than has been reported. The regime has been covering the real figures due to 'phantom investment' and 'empty shell companies' many of which have a close relationship to the Communist party. Shell companies set up via the Cayman islands and the British Virgin Islands.. among many others are from where the phantom investment is coming.
