Here is my comment regarding activists calling Mt. Rushmore a symbol of white supremacy. Here is my comment regarding a Wisconsin student calling for a Lincoln statue to be removed. They are emboldened. Never give an inch. Good Faith is a one-way street.
It’s total hypocrisy on the part of the media and those who have come out speaking against the President visiting Mt. Rushmore. They all had Glowing reviews when Obama visited the monument not to mention when Biden and Hillary visited. Biden said it was a Majestic accomplishment and there was not one word about it being a symbol of white supremacy when Obama visited it. Heck, there was even a petition flying around to have a carving of Obama join the four faces.
In 2016, Sanders visited Mount Rushmore, saying “this is our country at its very best.” The self-described democratic socialist even said it “really does make one very proud to be an American.” During that visit, CNN's Jeff Zeleny called Mt. Rushmore "a monument to four great American presidents."
It’s kind of like getting that approving nod isn’t it? I mean, from the 1st grade of school onward, I’ve seen people do the strangest things in order to be accepted by those who hold onto their popularity status. It’s a form of bribery whereby one promises to do anything at all, you name it, to be included into the “like” zone. They could hate thievery but suddenly go out and steal something to get into the fold. The news commentators do it all the time because it doesn’t matter what they say as long as they agree with what they deem to be the most popular viewpoint at the time. And then there are the folks who are so enamored by some celebrity or news commentator that they will agree with whatever the celeb says as though it’s the gospel truth. It’s as if they think that the person speaking will reach out and give a big hug to the patronizing idol worshiper right through the TV set. They listen to the garbage and whilst nodding their heads in approval to some false narrative, they get this warm and fuzzy feeling and a tingle up their leg just knowing how much the commentator will appreciate their personal patronage.
Now a mountain is racist a flag is racist watch out the sand on the beach will be called racist. I think they have over used this word because it is getting idiotic
You’re close Martin. New Zealand has a black sand beach on one side and a white sand beach on the other. Quite racist in my book so perhaps they need to sink New Zealand.
@Bobby Cole I could have written what you just wrote. Suddenly I feel like the only non-Kool Aid drinker in Jonestown. I see a certain amount of stuff in my "real" life to substantiate that feeling, but there's a lot out there that's still real world, so I'm not certain where my current level of paranoia should be. I feel that I gotta leave room to grow. Regarding the talking heads: it's amazing the personal bond people have with these idiots. Reality no longer seems to matter. You can't challenge the commentator with basic facts because it's like personally attacking a family member. (This is where you and I could have a depressing discussion over voting behaviour.) Some increasing number of people operate from feelings, but have to look around first to make sure they're feeling the currently acceptable thing. They don't know how to process facts, so they don't even bother trying.
Back when I used to serve the gospel at the rescue missions and do church revivals, this whole subject would have made for a good and well inspired “come to Jesus” preachin’!
Rioters, not protesters, tore down a monument of Columbus and threw it into the Boston Harbor. The word "rioters" is what the article read, not "protesters".
Next with politico correctness the letters W, H, I ,T,and E will be taken out of the alphabet because privilege
I do not necessarily like the idea that they toppled the statue of Columbus or any statue for that matter but let’s face it, he really never did make it to what is now known as the U.S. Other than paving the way for others to get here and a part of world history, he really isn’t part of U.S. history. Note: I’m not being cold about it but the truth is the truth.
Columbus explored the Caribbean island and never landed on the US soil but that is no excuse to topple any statues. The communist statues seem to be safe and they did nothing for the US.
Pretty much what I am talking about is their reasoning. Under Columbus’ second venture, his contract stated that he had to bring back slaves from the New World. Some media outlets have proclaimed that those slaves were Native North American Indians hence their reasoning for tearing it down but Columbus never made it here. So, is there a real reason for having a statue or not? There really isn’t but since it was there it should have been left alone but certainly not for the reason that it was dedicated for nor torn down for the reason that was given either.
