I just reviewed mine online for the last two years of claims. I have sure been a big money source for the whole medical field. I forgot about having my toe nails cut by a Podiatrist and paid for by Medicare. There were a couple claims by doctors that I never heard of or remember for a 25 minute visit.
With all the Medicare fraud, I plan to review our statements carefully. I have gone online a few times and poked around the Medicare website. We have only been on Medicare for a few months and no claims yet.
Every time I get the Medicare notification, I download the statement and review the charges. I have a spreadsheet where I enter every invoice from every provider (but not down to the Line Item level), and mark what the charges were, what Medicare paid, what supplemental paid, and any out-of-pocket I was required to pay. I keep tabs on my Total Out-of-Pocket to make sure I'm not charged too much. Keep in mind I don't have ongoing issues, so this is not an overwhelming task. But picking through the charges for that small stroke I had in January was insane. I was only in the hospital over night, but everyone who touched me seemed to invoice separately. I had an MRI, a CT scan, Doppler on my arteries, and an echo cardiogram. Every one of those people/departments/businesses(?) sent a separate invoice. It's tough to wade through...and I've got a purchasing/vendor management background, as well as decades of business analysis!
Do you mean, can you review your supplemental insurance stuff online, Gloria? I just went online to my supplemental insurance. I can review the past 24 months of claims.
I don't know..I get a wad of paper all the time from Insurance company..I Lolo look to see what I might owe..usually nothing..trashed.
I gotta make some phone calls on Monday. I recently had a 3rd visit with the cardiologist after this small stroke, and just got a bill today. I own $15. I should have maxed my annual out-of-pocket by now.
