Bontoc is in the mountain province. It is north of Manila, around 300 kilometers away. That place is one of the coldest and it is called there even in summer. There are tribes in Bontoc and I believe some of the oldsters still wear their colorful g-strings. I'm sure they are not affected by the floods since Bontoc is a high place. But with the strong winds, let's hope the vegetation there were not totally destroyed.
We are going to Singapore by the end of the month. It is our 4th visit to Singapore and this time we are going to stay in a classy hotel. Our usual hotel there was the Fragrance which is a cheap with a very compact room. The hotel we booked in for this upcoming trip has breakfast included in the bill. I don't know if it is really a 5-star hotel, we will know when we get there. There is an issue in our airport about the planting of bullets. Some passengers are caught with a bullet in their bag. Those passengers have denied the accusation but they are detained, causing them to miss their flight. Now, we are praying that those planting bullets to the bags of passengers would spare us.
We will be leaving for Singapore on Friday, the 27th. This time, we are bringing along the children - a nephew and a niece. They are so excited that I guess they couldn't sleep well anymore. Unlike before when me and my husband would stay in a cheap and cramped hotel, this time we are booked in a 5-star hotel with free breakfast that is located in Orchard Road, a high end area. Our itinerary for the first day is the Merlion and Marina Bay Sands hotel, just for pictorial. On day 2, we shall go to the Universal Studios and the zoo on the 3rd day. We leave for home on the 4th day, in the morning. It is a brief vacation but we are making the most of the short time in Singapore.
Our last travel was in Singapore this past weekend. For the coming year, we still have no plane tickets and I am hoping that we can go to Tokyo and Siem Reap in Cambodia. We have been to Hongkong and Singapore many times already so probably we need a change of itinerary. My husband is also considering traveling domestic to sample places like Davao which is farthest from Manila. We had been to Batanes last summer, that's the northermost part of our country. So we are on the lookout for budget plane tickets. In case you see one, please notify me.
For this year of 2016, we have 2 planned travels - to Bangkok, Thailand in March and to Singapore in October. We were in the Travel Expo last Saturday and we were lucky to get those promo tickets with Philippine Airlines. And since I was in a good mood that day so I bought 5 tickets for Bangkok that would include my 3 nephews and nieces. Now I am already booking for hotel rooms via internet. For October, I included my sister and her husband so there will be 4 of us going to Singapore.
This sounds like a lovely trip, @Corie Henson and I will look forward to your travel tales! While you're in Bangkok, I'll be in the supposed "tropical" Florida. AlthoughI can't really say that with any certainty because I've been there in March other years when it was downright COLD! We're talking 31 degrees and frost warnings a few of those mornings! What are you most looking forward to about Thailand and Singapore? Oh, and booking rooms early... essential! In fact, I just did the same this very morning for the end destination hotel... the nights where there will be interstate pull-overs are much more difficult, so I'm trying to work that out right now.
@Mari North, we have to book a hotel earlier while the price is still low. Getting a room a week before the flight is like on-demand which has a higher price. We had been to Bangkok just once in 2013 and we failed to take the elephant ride because there were only the 2 of us, me and my husband. Who's going to take our photos? But this time we are going to avail of that since we are bringing along the 3 youngsters with us. We are in Singapore every year and it is a treat for my sister, it would be her first time.
All of your trips sound exotic. My plans for this new year is to travel nothing as exciting as your plans but more than I have done in the last few years. A picture or two would be nice to see of your travels.
