A lot of people have been posting online that they are not even going to watch the games from home, since all of the players are disrespecting our flag, our military, and our country. If they don’t watch the games, then a lot of the food and beer that get drank during that time will not be being purchased probably, either.
Stadiums are already a money-losing proposition. They are a necessary evil to package the product whose main revenues come from advertising, licensing fees and marketing. Since the disgust started at watching multi-millionaires take a knee when the National Anthem is played, I've wondered why they don't just use CGI (computer graphics) to "fill" the stadium and fabricate the crowd soundtrack. Heck, they could fabricate the stadium. The game could be played anywhere. It doesn't need to be in a stadium. It could be set using Mars as the background!!! Tear them down. Save the $$$. Reclaim the prime real estate. Get rid of the corruption of taxpayers funding the private businesses. Only a fraction of a % of the fans ever enter one, anyway.
The players can’t spit any longer; It’s against the rules. Seventh inning stretch won’t be needed either. The guy playing the organ is out of a job. No one in the stands cussing out the umpires; some would say that’s good and some would vie that cussing out the umpire is part of the game. The kneeling issue? If the players knelt in prayer, they’re out of a job. If the players kneel to figuratively kiss the posteriors of a highly political party...they get a pat on the back and probably a bonus. No spit, no stretch, no organ, no cussing out the ump, players kneeling to a political god? I believe my lawn needs to be mowed.
This covid scam is destroying pro-sports how do you play a sport staying six feet apart? It would be sad if these spoiled multi millionaires had to get a real job instead of getting paid to play.
You forgot Kaepernick and BLM. They brought their personal politics to nearly ALL sports hence I’d venture to say that about 85% of the population has a dim view of the antics these overpaid millionaires are playing. Willie Mays made his professional baseball entrance into the game in a big way which is enough of a statement without all the hubbub that today’s idiots are bringing into the game.
I agree totally with one exception; College football. College football fans are a strange breed of people and do back their choice of schools so as long as the players do not get as political as the pros are, I’m inclined to give them a little space.
Strangely enough, I workout with one of the coaches for the Alabama A&M team and I kidded him about not having a cheer leading squad this year. He laughed about it and told me that it would be one less distraction for the players. And yeah, how about that marching band? Funny but the only games I ever went to in my entire life are the one’s that I had to play during half time.
