Ken, Yvonne and myself were content writers on a seniors forum that went belly up. Ken started Seniorsonly Club and voila, here we are.

I left another senior forum after the moderator there pulled some truly despicable, unethical crap, with me. He didn't deserve the great input I provided on his forum, where I had a few good friends. I miss them, but not the little dweeb who ran the board. You know exactly who I'm talking about, Lon.

Invite the ones you like from elsewhere, if you think they would enjoy it here. We do have quite a few transplants here from “over there” already, and some who belong to several forums, @Trevalius Guyus .

I asked about buying the forum from him after he said he was closing it, but he wanted an outrageous amount of money for it, given that it wasn't a successful forum, so I decided to start a new one instead.

To think about it, he got out just before the “hub” (we know who I mean) was sold to some rather ambitious people who haven’t done well at all.

At any rate, I and I am sure Yvonne were delighted that you opened up as fast as you did. You’ve gone through some bumps and grinds but all in all, things turned out pretty well.

In this case, content writers are given a small stipend for composition writing. Each piece of material was judged on it’s authenticity, the authors ability to write about a myriad of topics, the ability to make it interesting to the public and of course the author’s ability to incorporate the key elements in order to encourage SEO. (search engine optimization).

I was on city data for a while, but what I saw for my region was mostly adolescent name-calling over hot-button issues. It got tiring.

I joined this forum because I did not like the other seniors forum I was on. I joined it because I am on a Mazda owner's forum (just bought my first one last year), and the owner wants to keep the conversations restricted to talk about the vehicles (he has put together a really good resource.) I needed a place to blather and wanted a place during the virus to have intelligent reasonably respectful conversations about what was going on. The other forum did not meet that need. It actually depressed me to see those of my generation behave the way they did. The differing opinions here are generally well-reasoned and genuine...a healthy non-echo chamber.

I was a mod on a gun owner's forum a while ago. THAT was interesting. Talk about a magnet for trolls. I got to be friends with another mod, and once flew out to New Mexico to vacation with him and his girl friend. The things we would never experience without the web...
