Actually, I'm treated much, much better on this forum than I ever was on the other. I left "the other" voluntarily. There are forums that are "very good-to-great" and then there are those...........nope, won't say it! LOL
I was a mod on another forum (not a senior's one) and banned a few people. But they were genuine trolls...showing up only to antagonize and to give decent members grief. They all got fair warning, and were overtly right back in our faces. Banning people because of viewpoint and not egregious behaviour is kinda weird. I wouldn't want to encounter someone like that at the grocery store...sounds kinda frustrated and intolerant to me. If I got banned for having "non-conforming thoughts," I'd be pissed.
I'm on both of the forums and I think they're both great...….just different. I appreciate that the other forum bans political discussion. I get enough of that at home, as I live in "a house divided." No big deal, though, as I'm quite capable of ignoring any subject (or poster) that I don't like.
I'm also on both forums and check them daily. I like SOC better because it's smaller and has a different "vibe." I have been a moderator on a couple of RV forums (one with 264k members) and it can be quite a challenge so I resigned after a couple of years. Some admins/moderators have a genuine power trip and can be annoying as hell; I was often at odds with other "staff" because I didn't agree with their heavy-handed tactics with members.
He probably banned you for discussing the previous moderation; that is against the rules of that forum. (And most forums.) From their rules: Public comments or questions regarding mod actions or decisions are not permitted on this board. Such posts will only cause more forum dramas. Instead, please address your comments/questions by PM to a moderator.
Interesting, except I never did that, as best i recall. I never named names, never mentioned the moderator. Eh, maybe I mentioned that I had backed off with my posting, previously, because of unclear posting guidelines.
I was banned for a week on this forum, but after dwelling on it and becoming even more remorseful for what I had posted, I self-extended my ban to 4 weeks. Kindly Ken had just "slapped my wrist"! Hal
I believe I'm finished with commenting on that other forum. It's old business, now, and I'm happier here.
