Seemingly, most of you are opting to hide from the virus behind a mask, and I honestly and truly hope that you are able to do this. However, I don't think that this virus is going to go away. More likely, it will act as other coronaviruses do, and mutate to defeat whatever vaccinations might come on the market.

Strangely (or at least it seems strange to me), we generally only hear of herd immunity in reference to vaccinations. However, I hope you understand how vaccinations work. No, I am not an opponent of vaccinations, as some of them do work. I am an opponent of mandated vaccinations, however, because many of them do not work, and there are risks involved with the injection of vaccinations and I believe that free people should be free to weigh the benefits and the risks and make their own health decisions.

Why is herd immunity only spoken of in reference to vaccinations? If you understand how vaccinations work, you will understand that someone who contracts a virus and defeats it will also contribute to herd immunity. My understanding is that this is the best type of herd immunity. People used to understand that, but the medical fields have gravitated toward injections, whether proven or not.

My idea - well, it's not really my idea, as in mine alone, because I am pretty sure I am not the only person who has considered it - is that I would rather not live in fear, but live my life as a free citizen prepared to beat the virus if I should come across it, and thus contributing to herd immunity. Again, if you understand how vaccinations work, if someone getting the virus and beating it does not contribute to herd immunity, then your vaccinations aren't going to work either.

As I have said before, I am not going to take any unnecessary risks. Except for a few excursions, for shopping, for experimental purposes, and to keep from going mad, I pretty much stay home. I avoid people who are sick and if I were sick myself, I would not only stay home but I would strongly advise my wife to live in another part of our not so small house. I don't wear masks because I know enough about them to be convinced that they may pose more of a threat to my health than a benefit, and because I consider them to be unnecessary. I am thinking about ordering a face shield in the event that I might have to go somewhere where there are actually sick people, but I don't think I'd wear it routinely. Unlike the masks, a shield might actually provide protection from being infected through the eyes, nose, or mouth. Plus, a shield can be more easily cleaned and disinfected. Many of them allow you to replace the shield from time to time.

Still, if I were to take every precaution that seems reasonable to me, and even if I were to comply with some of the dumber ones, I can't help but believe that if the virus is as virulent as the propaganda would like us to believe, then there is a good chance that I will catch it eventually. So, it seems reasonable to do whatever I can do to enhance my ability to fight it off, hopefully without even becoming symptomatic, as is the case with most. I am in my late 60s and have had cancer twice, but I am currently relatively healthy.

I am a little surprised that so many are opting to do nothing other than try to hide from it. Even if you choose to hide from it, and that's fine if you do, you should recognize that it may find you anyhow. Some of you are not healthy, and you should certainly do your utmost to hide from the virus. I don't think the cloth masks are the most effective way to do that, but that's another matter.

Why not seek ways to prepare your body to beat it, if that is at all possible?

If the virus were as virulent as the propaganda would like us to believe, then way more than 4,000,000 of us would already have it by this point, and many of us would be seriously ill.

I have yet to see one story compare 2019/2020 infection rates (or any metric) to any other season. Yet lives are being destroyed by the reaction.

If it were as virulent as they would have us believe, they wouldn't have to exaggerate and lie about the numbers but that, too, is another matter. I don't think any of us believe the virus does not exist, and I know that people have become very sick and have died from it, but that's the case with the seasonal flu as well. But again, this is something that is already being discussed in other threads. I had hoped that we could have a discussion of what can be done to best prepare ourselves to survive it if we should contract the virus. I am doing the things that I believe to be reasonable, but I don't pretend to have all of the answers.

Supplement people will load you down with so many supplements that you're more likely to get sick and die from the supplements than from the virus. Clearly, that can be overdone, but I think there are some supplements that make sense.

Early on in this virus, I read an article from a physician who said that a family had contracted the virus. The kids tested positive but were not sick, while both parents were, according to him, very sick from it. He said that they survived it by taking massive amounts of Vitamin C and, I think, some other vitamins or immune supplements, but I don't remember which. However, they didn't begin taking these until after they were sick. I think it would be better to do what we can to have a healthy immune system even before we are exposed to the virus.

Masks don't work written right on the box they come in.
Vaccines were so dangerous the government had to give them legal protection so they would make them. If they are safe take away their legal protection and see how many want to make them.
Humans have been on the earth for many years and out bodies have dealt with all this stuff before and will do it again. but what we did not have before is this hourly/daily/weekly reminder of the people infected to cause fear porn in every media. This fear will kill a lot more people than the virus could. The WHO has been found guilty of lying the CDC is now found guilty of lying about the numbers of dead. What is if for FEAR.
Wake up we have survived many illness a lot worst than this but we were not lied to last time.

    Pretty much, Martin.

This is not The Plague. The numbers just don't bear out the hype. And as I've stated before, if it were that much worse than prior years' flu, you better believe every newscast would be plastered with charts & graphs proving that point.

Marxism can only take hold when there's discontent.

There are some reports that those who have received the flu shot are more susceptible to COVID-19, as it adversely affects their immune system. I don't know if that's true or not, since I don't get flu shots anyhow.

What makes sense to me is that those who are dependent on the flu shot could be more at risk, largely because that's the lazy way.

Prior to flu vaccinations, people would make a point of eating right or taking vitamins, particularly Vitamin C, during flu season. Since the cold season is pretty much the same time, that can help to reduce the chances of catching a cold, too.

It can also minimize the effects of a cold. Whenever I get the sniffles or another sign that I might be getting a cold, I load myself down with Vitamin C, mostly in the form of citrus fruit and juices rather than tablets, but I have the tablets too, and I use them when I don't have other sources of Vitamin C in sufficient quantities.

COVID-19 is a coronavirus, so the precautions you might take to avoid catching a cold will be of some use against COVID-19.

Yes, that includes staying away from people who are sniffling, coughing, and sneezing.

Just as people viewed the vaccine as protection against the flu, ignoring all of the other precautions they should be taking, this despite the fact that on most years, the flu vaccine is only 30% effective, that is how people are viewing masks today, this despite the fact that virtually no one suggests that a mask is going to keep them safe.

In my opinion, the most important thing you can do is to build up your immune system, and masks can get in the way of that.

Most people in extended care get flu vaccines. That is also where the deaths were the worst

I thought the flu vaccine was actually 30% effective when they anticipated the right one for a given flu season, but there was only a 30% chance of them anticipating the right one in the first place, so there's only a 9% chance (30%x30%) of a flu shot being effective in any given flu season.

While a COVID-specific vaccine has the benefit of them targeting that particular virus, keep in mind that it is changing, so the chances of effectiveness are still way less than 30%.

And I still don't see any substantiation for the reaction.

There is now an app sponsored by the state of Virginia Dept of Health that exchanges "privacy-preserving anonymous tokens" with other phones via Bluetooth as you go about your daily life. If one of those "privacy-preserving anonymous tokens" has been "associated with positive COVID-19 cases," you will be anonymously notified.

I don't know about you, but when the government, Google and Apple team up to develop something that's "privacy-preserving," I'm all-in.

    Serves us right, buncha assassins.

There are currently 1.4% of us in this nation who are or have been COVID-infected.
Swine Flu was close to 20%.

    WTF?

I recently posted about conflicts with my cardiologist. I'm supposed to go in for a test that has to be done in a hospital setting, so has been COVID-deferred.

When I talk to the guy about how many cases are actually there, he is evasive as can be. In fact, no one is allowed to discuss specific numbers. I know this for a fact from the relatives of hospital workers.

Given the depth of hysteria, a reasonable person might conclude that a large number of cases would support the over-controlling of the citizenry we have seen; therefore, when facts are repressed, that same reasonable person would likewise conclude that there ain't nuthin' behind the curtain.

To a very large degree, I do believe getting a little dirty does a great service for not only our physical health but our mental health as well.

This last Tuesday I was visited by my insurance company’s medical representative for an in-home wellness checkup.
After a bit of a talk with her, I learned that she (and her doctor husband) has been in the medical field for nearly 30 years.
The one thing she fretted about was the mandatory double masking and double gloves she had to wear at each of her appointments.
At the end of appointment, which concluded that I am “normal” (whatever that is) I also gathered that she has a lot of reservations about masking and the overall way the CV has been blown up and shoved down our throats.

She told me of some people she personally knows who caught the virus but at the end of the day, they all survived but also added that it simply takes about 3 weeks or so to get over and it is sometimes painful. One person she observed barely knew he had the disease so it is what it is.
