Two things Cody. Although I did not do the research, I can promise you that the Pasadena Rose parade is minuscule in the amount of revenue gained compared to the Sturgis Rally. We stopped in Sturgis during our Western trip. Had a beer and a meal. Town was empty. Mostly venues that are built and maintained only to be open for business during the Rally.. The town is 80% empty during the rest of the year. Second thing, Do you and your wife agree on everything? Sounds a bit scary to me.
That’s one aspect I didn’t consider. My two restaurants in the French Quarter of New Orleans made the entire year’s leases and most of the money needed to pay the utilities for the year in the 10 days of Carnival and the 1 day of Marci Gras. Even though Marci Gras was held this year, I can’t imagine what effect the virus had on the total amount of revenue the businesses normally bring in.
It was a joke Yvonne. Not a personnel attack. It is probably the most common saying in the world when you see a big guy on a small bike! If Hal was offended I am sure he could come back at me or report me himself!!!!!! I remember hearing that back when I was 15 and had a Honda 50 minibike! Lighten up willya. I know you hate the ground I walk on and the air I breathe, but it really is not necessary to troll my every post looking for something to be offended by.
Dang, sure glad I'm not the only one causing a problem in MY thread! lOL And, by the way, we don't dislike Bobby, he just has a difference in opinion than we do. There is quite a bit of "difference in opinion" among members of SoF.
No, Peter, wife and I don't agree on everything, but most everything. Actually, her personality is the "follower" type and mine is the "leader" type. We both tell people "he's in charge" and "she's in charge". Lots of fun to do it that way.
In her defense, she doesn’t hate you at all. Matter of fact, she was rather proud of you when you took up for Lon the other day. And.....it’s her job. to try to read each and every post so don’t let your ego allow you to believe that you’re special. And......6 exclamation points after a word? A bit of an overkill is it not?
Well I apologize . I don't have the filters that most have in place. I came of age in the Marines. I joined at 17 and was out at 21. My formative years were spent in a profane environment! I don't recognize how other people react.
Back in my drinking days and as a combat veteran, a very cute bartender with whom I had a huge crush on told me that it was my language that (1) turned her off and (2) prevented other people from knowing I am intelligent rather than the beast I portrayed whilst using said language. A huge wakeup call indeed. Now, back to Sturgis or even Myrtle Beach bike week perhaps.....
@Peter Renfro, I'm letting this go because I believe you when you say that you meant it as a joke, and because of the apology. Please keep in mind, however, that one of the things that I have asked @Yvonne Smith to do is to help to keep threads from devolving into personal attacks or off-topic distractions. As I have learned myself, jokes are not always taken for what they were intended to be so we need to be sensitive to that kind of thing. The intent is significant, in my opinion, but that's not always easy to determine. Please don't talk back to greeters who are doing their jobs. That's more of a problem than the joke. Now, let's go back to the Sturgis Rally, please. The media agenda is to hold everyone in the country responsible for rules that are made by agenda-driven governors far away from them. That's kind of like saying that we need to kill all the bees because some people are allergic to bee stings or that peanut butter should be banned because some people are allergic to it. Because of this progressive agenda, which is dependent upon high COVID-19 numbers and draconian restrictions, every positive test for the next month will be probably attributed to the Sturgis Rally. Reasonable people won't believe the numbers but then, reasonable people are not the target audience.
