Well, you know they are "born that way," so it must be a natural thing... right?? If we examine the basis for most sexual deviancy (and by that I mean "not the norm"), then how are a pedophiles "rights" any different than a homosexual? Where do we draw the line? And yes, I get that they prey on children, are disgusting, etc... but that aside, how is the case made for one and not the other? Pedophiles don't get to be part of the rainbow?? Just playing devil's advocate here; I believe pedophiles are vile. But there's a crack in the wall of morality that keeps getting wider.
It would be difficult to argue that someone would choose to be a pedophile. It's easy to see how the argument will be made, and the conclusion won't be much different than that of gay rights and gender fluidity, neither of which many would have anticipated not so long ago. Most people thought these ideas were crazy and disgusting at one time, and probably still do, but the majority have been effectively silenced by the minority.
Uh, wow. My initial reaction is that judge needs to be impeached, as do a whole bunch of others. "Functional trial" trumps "Speedy trial." Once would assume that an abuse survivor found a measure of peace.
Not so simple... They'll co-opt terms such as 'pervert', or any other derogatory term, for their own just as gay people don't mind calling each other 'queer'.
I studied enough psychology for a bachelor's just to try and solve my life-long depression. So from all that study, here's my take on pedophiles. There are two main types. The first is a man who doubts his ability to satisfy a grown woman. This may be a perceived.physical inadequacy on his part or just an emotional disconnect with women in general. He wants to gratify himself with someone who can't 'judge' him lacking. The second type ( and this is less from my psychology studies than just life-long observation of people ) is just plain bad. He enjoys the distortion of innocence. He knows himself to be deeply flawed and corrupt and resents the existence of innocence and works to end it.
Not that there's no truth in your two scenarios, but I thought that there is a strong correlation between being a child molester and having been molested as a child.

Thanks for "society is doomed". A reminder that a century ago, it was noted that society (the world), is terrible, and it has been doomed , under a death sentence, longer than any of us have been alive, or even our parents or our grand parents or our great grand parents..... perhaps many centuries ? It is likewise "Sadly", that so many people not only are not surprised, but don't even realize how bad things are already today...
I am so weary of all these malfunctioning creatures in our society. Let's go chase them all back in the closet and throw away the key after we lock the door.
