I also had the worst labour ever..went into Labour Saturday while shopping at the market with my sister...and gave birth on the Tuesday morning at 7.20am ( 57 hours in labour and 59 stitches to sew me back up)...., horrendous labour...but just like you Ruby..I never forgot the pain...my daughter also is an only child!!

@Holly Saunders so much of what you say parallels my own life! I'm Sunday, too, and my daughter was Tuesday... Tuesday morning, 8:54 a.m. If that's when your daughter was born, too, don't tell me!

Oh, you already answered what I just asked, @Holly Saunders ... close, but at least not the same! What does NOT parallel my life, is your difficult labor. Mine was started *and* over all within 6 hours. 57 hours... good gracious!

One of my sisters had 4 hour labours or less with all 3 of her children...In all honesty altho' there was a couple of other factors regarding my daughter being an only child...if I'd had shorter labours there's no question I would have had more children. To this day I feel guilty that I didn't..for her sake!! :(

Oh, great. I was born on a Saturday, and that sure proved true. 11:30am, in time for dinner, my dad always said.:)

Have you actually asked her about it? Because I always felt a little guilty, too, but my daughter has thanked me numerous times for allowing her to be an only child. She's always listed the things that would be different for her (not as good) if there had been other children. That always made me feel good.

Yes Holly spot on, but they are only black and white it was a Brownie box camera and I wasn't used to heights yet. The stork was business class so great milk en route

Since my kids were 5 yrs apart and different sexes, they were never really close as children. Each probably felt more like an only child anyway.

@Mari North , You have an appreciative and sweet daughter. And, yes, there are many perks to being the only child. Not that I was...and not that I don't have 4 myself. But I listen and read.

Yes I've asked her many times. When she was small she would beg me for a sibling...now she's almost 40 she's happy she has none for the same reasons given by your daughter, but I still feel guilty, thinking that she'll not have anyone close when I pop my clogs!
