Are you deliberately missing my point, John? We may not know all the causes but the effects are staring us in the face. Please find me someone who thinks fast ocean rise is a good thing.
I went for years thinking 'hyperbole' was three syllables. We have our reading vocabulary and our speaking vocabulary which differ. I now know that hyperbole has five syllables.

I could come down on either side of the issue. Once you have told the government that it can violate a civil right, there are no such things as "limited circumstances."

I hate to engage this subject, because it's all conjecture that is going to go nowhere.

I'll try to firm up some of my views with better research. In the meantime, I think the easiest thing for you to do is just agree with me.

    Hmmmm....you make a strong argument ;)

You have tried to engage me on a few subjects, and I've really not felt like doing the "better" research to firm up my views.
It's not me ignoring you, it's a lack of energy to engage some of these hot topics without falling back on hyperbole and cliches. So I say nothing.

Well, there's the difference between us. I have no problem with giving my opinion on things I know nothing about.

I was joking, John. But I appreciate that you see me as a reasonable person. I regard you as one, also.

I think I understand a little of John's mindset about arguing. I had little idea I had any skill at debate before joining SoC. I won't get any better at it. To me, discussion and debate is a mutual search for truth, as best as we can discover it. I simply don't get any pleasure from defeating anyone in discussion.. That winning is empty and meaningless. I've been in other forums where people just scream their views and berate their opponent. There is much less of that here than elsewhere.

Every time I view a Dwight Ward post, I'm always distracted by his Avatar, which suggests that the person in the post is the one in the Avatar!

I know this is not the case, but there's some personal visual/psychological reason for this distraction.....

I apologize for the embarrassment this may cause you, Dwight.

Of course not, Bobby, and I hope this post will not exacerbate the pleasant relationship between Dwight and myself.

I don’t know why it would, unless, well maybe......uh, naw. He’s pretty easy going so, well, dunno. He could be one of those “fluid” people.

Personally, going with the mask thing, I think my next avatar is going to be something along the lines of:

If he's gonna wear a hat claiming his obsession with an ancient brew, the least he could do is spell it right.

Regarding the topic, I, too, find Harrison Ford's intense stare to be a little odd.
