I grew up in Ruston, Louisiana and I am curious if anyone else here lived there. I moved away after graduation.
We have at least a couple of Louisiana people here. My husband, @Bobby Cole , is from New Orleans, and @Babs Hunt lives in Louisiana, Lafayette, if I remember right. . I am from north Idaho, and this is as far south as I have ever lived. I went to Florida with my daughter when she worked there for a week, and I loved it down there, but we were just driving through to Orlando, and then came home along the ocean on the west side of Florida. I would love to live close enough to be able to at least drive and see the ocean.
Lincoln Parish, right? I’ve been through Ruston on a couple of occasions whilst traveling I-20 quite a few years ago. The food is good and the people are friendly albeit I noticed too many Texans had migrated there.
Yvonne...I have fond feelings for Louisiana of course...lol when I first read your post I thought you were saying Bobby was your husband.. I have never been to Idaho though at one time we were considering moving to Coeur d'Alene..visited there and it was beautiful.. I think I mentioned my living in Florida...moved from California so I have been within driving distance to beaches for most of my life. I gave up sun tanning years ago but love the beches . Fl esp has beautiful ones...I am wanting to win the lottery and buy a place on the beach here in Fl
Bobby..You are right! It was a dry parish when I lived there but all we had to do is drive 20 minutes to the next parish, drive by a window and order our booze.....my fav was sloe gin ...or southern comfort but I liked beer too I don't know about Texans there??? Maybe you meant me.... I lived for 2 years in Dallas before moving to Ruston. Did you grow up in Louisiana?
You were correct the first time, @Joan Kuper ; @Bobby Cole IS my husband, and he and I have been part of this forum since Ken started it about five years ago. Even though we lived in opposite ends of the country, we met online through a Christian website Almost 20 years ago, started writing to each other, and ended up being married. My daughter lives here in Huntsville, so we moved here from Idaho over 10 years ago, and don’t miss snow one bit !
People here aren't bothered by snow at all. Just one of the reasons we returned here. Believe it or not.
We'd take the Rockies over any ocean or Gulf beach any day. For the 10 1/2 years we lived in Jacksonville, Florida, we only went on the beach three times.
Coty I loved the snow as long as I could decide the length of time I would be in it..lol we could do that in California since a few hours drive would take you away...
Ruston, LA. - The most I can say about Ruston, LA is I drove through there twice, going to and coming from Hopkinsville, KY and that would have been in 1952. Wonder if Ruston received any rain from the hurricane? I'll bet it did and maybe a little wind. https://www.myarklamiss.com/community/ruston-hurricane-damage-recovery-efforts/
Bill ….. and I might have just moved to Ruston from Dallas in 1952... I don' t keep in touch with anyone there now but I did read there was extensive wind damage from Laura...
@Bobby Cole Got something against Texans, eh? Or, the "slip" of a greasy tongue? Chicago became similarly afflicted many years ago, not by Texans, but rather Polacks. Those stupid, clumsy, illiterate folks not desirable as neighbors. Frank
We drove through Ruston on I-20 last evening; didn't notice any wind damage anywhere along I-20. Years ago my husband's sister and her husband lived in Ruston for a few years; they had a gorgeous home there in a very hilly area... that's about all I remember.
