I worked with a woman whose 17 year old son had a 15 year old girlfriend. The day he turned 18, he was arrested for "statutory rape" and spent FIVE YEARS in jail. Such bullsh*t.

They have already changed the names for pedophiles to MAP’s (minor attracted person), and have groups online fo that. Since you can’t go to prison for being attracted to a minor , unless you act on that attraction, they can call it a personality trait, and this helps to allow pedophilia to become “normalized”. They even make child “sex dolls” for these people, and if you see the picture of a little child that you especially like, you can send in the picture, and they will make your doll to look like that little child. I think that working to lower the age of consent is also part of the strategy, and they say it is so that “children are not denied the right to be loved”, or some ridiculous thing like that.
I agree with these comments - the law (if its passed) doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm not schooled in legal matters relating to judicial decisions. But in one sentence it says that "minors cannot legally consent to sex", and at the same time a judge may decide not to place him in the sex-offender list, if he does?!? How can that be? First, I think that since its illegal, the jail term should be for 6 months at least, let alone whether or not he is on the list. Sometimes a little jail time is good. (I was a member for a few years of a Christian group who ministered to our local jail residents). But that is a long story. For instance, back in my teaching days, I had a student that showed up after spending a night in jail (after a DUI), and he apologized profusely, and said he spent the night studying math! I thought that was funny, and we both laughed and laughed. I forgave him and didn't count the absence and he said "Believe me, I will never do that again."
One of my friends lives in Sacramento and it is her life's work to get Newsom recalled. I admire her tenacity.

If he had been gay and been in a relationnship with a younger boy, no one would have bothered him. In a way, this reminds me of one of the early child porn convictions where a professional photographer was chronicling her daughter's life. I believe that privately held bathtub pics of her own kid put her behind bars. The government attack is directed against normalcy while elevating all else. This law just another component of it. (You can protest and commit arson in mobs, but you cannot gather in church.)
Actually, the reason he was arrested at all was a complaint by "Lolita's" father. Most teens in similar situations don't end up in jail and I was absolutely shocked that he did.
