I almost posted this video in "Tall Tales"..... I guess the question is "how many steps does it take to change a light bulb"? It's a short video....it just seems longer!
Joe, that was horrible ! ! You need to put a warning on these kinds of videos that says "Do NOT watch if you are afraid of heights ". I was actually hanging onto my chair the whole time. There is no way that I would ever climb up that tower, not for all of the money in the world. I guess that it is a good thing that there are some people who don't mind though, the light bulbs do need to be replaced when they gp out. (next time be sure to put a "Yvonne, beware" notice on your post, Joe)
Sorry Yvonne, I guess I thought the title was warning enough! I agree that it would not be my way of getting "high"! As a teen, we lived near a 840 foot high TV tower, and that seemed pretty high. I can't imagine working this high up.
I got this horrific feeling of abdominal "flutter" while watching the video. I was telling him that he should have worn a parachute!! Not that he had planned on jumping. Anyway, they've received 4,542,131 viewers! Incredible .
Thanks for sharing! I really love this kind of videos - the ones that make me shiver just watching them. I've never really had a fear for heights, but I can't help in getting goosebumps from videos like these. Thank god I don't have that job - I can imagine myself screwing up.
A few years ago I was going to take on course sponsored by the Confederated Tribes in drone operation. I decided not because the one I wanted was out of my budget. It would be nice for security reasons. Different areas have different rules about where you can fly them. All the possibilities of a drone interest me.
I have thought about getting one but we’re pretty limited around here, military wise, in regard to anything that flies and yes, even kites. The Arsenal is pretty protective about the air space and even private planes aren’t allowed to fly anywhere near where we live. I can almost see me now: Happily flying my drone around in circles and taking a nice video of the surrounding areas and WHAM, the whole thing gets shot down and I get a nice visit from some guys dressed in suits and brandishing some nice big badges. To be serious though, I have seen some really cheap jobs and they would probably work but if I were to get a drone it would have to be a nice one and again, with the military thing, that ain’t happening. I mean, why buy something that I can’t use to its full potential?
I mentioned to Bobby that I needed a drone to be able to get up above the Moonflower blossoms and take a better picture of them, and his response was pretty much like the one he posted (above). So, next year, I will grow the Moonflowers on a lower trellis. If you have a place to fly a drone, @Faye Fox ; I think that you would really enjoy having one . I am pretty sure that i would like it if I had the expertise to fly one and a suitable place to do it. My son has a drone, and he really likes his, but he is in Idaho where he las lots of open spaces to fly it and take pictures. Here is one from Roman Nose Peak (near Bonners Ferry), filmed by my son and daughter-in-law (short cameo at the end), and music by my grandson.
My favorite QuadCopter (or Drone) is one that has an on-board Camera, switchable from the Operator's Controller to record either real-time Video or Stills, while displaying what it sees on the Controller's Screen. Since it records the launch site's GPS Coordinates at launch, it also has a fail-safe function that enables it to automatically fly back and land at the launch site when the battery becomes low or the range becomes extreme. I used it a few times, and it was so successful in its operation that I became bored with it. (Also shown is my smaller first drone, which I gave to my nephew.) Hal
I have a drone. Got it started and promptly crashed it. $00 bucks down the drain. At some point I am going to find parts for it.
Peter, it's no wonder you crashed your drone...at 64 you're too young to fly these things! Hal, age 84
Dunno if a drone took the video but this one apparently had a lot of people “anxious” or maybe like the vid said, filled with dread. Looks like a good base jump to me!
I haven't been up on one that high but I climbed a radio tower when I was a kid and those things sway back and forth when you're up near the top.
