Things That Make Life Easier

Thinking of getting a Swifter . I use the dusters..when I dust. Thinking of the wet dry one vs the battery operated one. To hard to mop any more and mainly need it for dog hair and bits and pieces of floor dirt. Whadda think

 

I cut the grass today with a walk behind mower and enough is enough. Next year is a rider or pay to have it done.

 

@Gloria Mitchell , I had a Swiffer to dust floors with. I used it for a while and now I think it is gathering dust in the closet. I never had the wet dry one so I can't give you any advice about that. I suspect, though, that it will be in the closet gathering dust like my duster. The best little gadget I ever bought is a Bissell three in one vacuum. It's like a hand vac but has a long handle. You can take the handle off and use it as a hand vac. It's super light but picks up dog hair and other things extremely well on hard floors. I've had mine for 6/7 years so they are probably even better now. I have used it on carpet but it doesn't have a beater bar like carpet vacuums so it doesn't work as well on carpets. It will pick up surface dust but not deep clean. I use a cheap, light mop from Dollar Tree to mop my hard floors. It's cheap and it works.

 

John, I think the trick is to use it more often. I recently got a Swiffer wet jet (battery operated) to use at the mobile home. Vinyl flooring in a small kitchen area. One pad will easily do that kitchen, but there is a huge island in the middle, so probably only about 100 sq. ft. of floor left. So far, so good.

Another expense comes because the liquid containers aren't refillable, at least not on mine. There is a YouTube video that shows how to open them with boiling water, and refill. I haven't tried that...yet.

I've wondered about those Magic Erasers and if they worked. I'm getting better at cleaning windows a little more often but every couple of weeks, nope, I'm not there yet. Good for you though. I like the idea of the fuzzy sock too. @Bess Barber

In my fantasies, my home is spotless and everything has it's very own corner, shelf or place. Reality's a bit different though. After being laid up for an excess amount of time and just being able to do the daily basics, I'm hard and work trying to get my home back to normal. Normal being way better!@Bess Barber

 

I'm trying to think of a way they could help limit falls but I don't think so. I just don't have a habit of looking down at my feet every time I walk. Maybe I should though. I've taught myself other things over the years to limit hurting myself (spine). I used to get up and down and do this yard work or that housework, without a second thought. Like a boss! Eventually, I learned that a pinched nerve in my low back could and would hit at any time. That pain is rough! After it knocks you on your butt a few times and sends you to the e.r. you eventually learn to baby step things and correct the way you move about. It helps.

 

I need one of these!
