I won't hold my breath for the individual branches of government to stick to their knitting. I mentioned elsewhere that until SCOTUS stops making law, we may as well not bother with the pretense of having a representative legislative process. A big part of the problem is the media playing the people (and the people allowing themselves to get played.) All it takes is for one outrageous ruling from the bench to have Mandatory Minimum Sentences legislated, removing any hope of true justice being served. Conversely, all it takes is one overblown case of one person being disproportionately impacted by a law, and we have screams for a "wise Latina woman" to give us Social Justice 'n stuff.

Look at the cries from citizens demanding to give up their right to the Fed to mange their own local law enforcement because there have been a few bad actors in other states. It's bass-ackwards from the bottom up.

I think he should nominate Judge Lagoa. She is qualified. She is a woman. She is a woman of "Color". Surely the Democrats will quickly approve her? :)

I can never recall an elected official ever being denied a clearance.

    There are no standards.

My post was slightly misleading. It is my understanding that Elected officials, even the POTUS, do not get security clearances that are typical to “need to know” personnel.
They are supposed to be vetted to receive such and such pieces of information but other than that, they do not receive confidential to top secret clearances.

What I should have written is that if our “leaders” (that word again) are caught handing out confidential information that has any possibility of damaging the national security on any level they should lose all the privileges of their position, prosecuted to the full extent of the law and sent to Gitmo, or Siberia or put in the stocks or..................

No, you weren't misleading...it's tough to apply tonal inflection to posts.

I was being sarcastic regarding politicians being given a free pass. But I did not know that they were not given the standard clearances that the rest of us get when working with Classified/Secret/TSI data. I guess it makes sense, since there would be no Issuing Agency for the broad spectrum of topics that cross their desks. I wonder how strictly that is applied. The pressure on those who are responsible for determining where lines are drawn must be enormous...and we all know who would be left holding the bag.

Prophets saying Trump will seat the new Supreme Court Justice....and she will be a compassionate woman. There also might be more than one seat he fills.

Most of social media is reporting that he will pick Amy Coney Barrett, but at least one person says that this is a media diversion, and he actually will choose Barbara Lagoa.
I guess we won’t know for sure until President Trump makes the announcement.

I would say that that is not a good plan. We are much more apt to see term limits for congress than for the Supreme Court , so they are playing with fire on that one. People are already wanting term limits for congress.

The Dems flap their mouths over whatever ridiculous thing comes to mind. Best they concentrate on term limits in Congress.

Term limits when strict Constitutionlists are the majority.
Lifetime appointments when there's a Liberal activist majority.

Fight your battles in the legislature.
