Is your machine a glider? I have one of those, too. It helps the thighs if you kind of bend the knees when "gliding." I do like the stationary bike; this is the one I own... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007595TKU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was reasonably priced, has adjustable resistance, and is QUIET. I've had it for about 5 years now and it's still going strong.
Yes, Yvonne! I have something like that but it's a very old version. It does not have a way to adjust resistance. The petals are attached to the metal sides that swing. I think I should have a new one of these or an indoor pedaling something. I love the name Yvonne, it's beautiful.
@Maggie Rose So permit me to ask the obvious question here: What do your doctors say regarding loss of muscle mass, how to get it back, and how to mitigate discomfort while doing so? Of course, that might prod things you would rather not discuss...the past few years I've had medical issues where I trust Google more than I trust MDs. I'm going though stuff now where I'm driving 50 miles to a doctor I distrust less than the ones 20 miles up the road.
I think its an older version of a Gazelle, like Yvonne posted. That stationary bike has a ton of good reviews and the price is very reasonable I think. Thank you for your help with the exercise machine info. I will look into both of the ones you showed me.
I just started really noticing losing the muscle in the past 6 months. Ironically, I've been physically very active working my butt off caring for my yard for the whole 6 months. I've had no choice in the matter. My last surgery was in 2019. I think I had a total of 8 surgeries from 2015-2019. I've not been back to the doctor in 2020. I'm sick and tired of zillions of injections for pain. All of which have terrible side effects. I'm off pain meds. I'm trying to get my body strength back by myself. The doctors: meds, meds and more meds. I think I did pain injections for 6 years total throughout my spine and neck. When you get tired of meds and injections they only have surgery to offer. I need to get my body stronger just like I somehow did years ago when I couldn't get fixed by doctors. I just happened to be younger and stronger at that time. So it was a lot easier. Also, at that time I had only one spine surgery, not several. So, to answer your question. I'm not going back to the doctors. I have to do this on my own.
This is what I have. The only thing I see different is the way the bands are and the color of the machine. But yes, it's like this without handlebars and no resistance altering.
I feel sorry for people who looked for help from the medical system only to have other problems. I have talked and helped many people with back problems. Most bodies will fix themselves it given what it needs to do that. My father in law was kicked by a mule when he was young and the doctors had no help for him except if it gets bad enough they will put in rods. Well I put him on a incline bed and had him correct his diet adding a lot of pure gelatin to his diet and with three months he became 3/4 inches taller and works without pain.
The thing is, I've fixed myself many times over the years. I've never had the muscle wasting before with the leg pain. I'm at a loss. I already have screws and rods in my spine too. What does pure gelatin do?
gelatin is a close to cartilage as you can get. The discs in the spine are a type of cartilage so if it is deteriorating you need to replace it.Interesting study that was done by Harvard health on chicken cartilage and rheumatoid arthritis they stop the study early because everyone got well. If you ever made bone broth cooking bones and joints and then put it in the fridge you would see that it becomes jelly like [gelatin]
Of all the doctors I've seen over the years and I've never heard anything about trying gelatin. I have osteoarthritis/degenerative disc disease. Spine and neck. I was told they couldn't fix my neck because it would be a multiple disc fusion or replacement that no doctors want to take on. Do you think I could benefit from gelatin use? Are you talking about gelatin capsules like women take to grow their fingernails?
Sorry to say medical system is a business big pharma makes customers not cures. You can buy un flavored gelatin like Knox I put it in capsules for my use but some people just puts a table spoon into their hot coffee. It does not matter how you get it. Now other think to keep in mind is your digestion must be working right to absorb what you eat. If not it does not matter if you eat the right thing it will not get into your body but just pass through. Hope this answer your question.
Reading this thread has just turned me off to any thing electrical. Sounds like zapping ones self with a Taser. I'd prefer a sympathectomy. I guess that has its own negative sides as well. I like Martin's gelatin comments. Worth a try. I have spinal stenosis with a right hip displacement, but I refused hip replacement. Just me and how I feel about certain things pertaining to medicine.
