I'm not even going to get into all the diagnoses I've had over the years with this stupid spine thing, it's insane. I think lots of times they are guessing as long as you are paying. At least until things show up on one test or another. I have a problem with my hips too, mostly my right one. Does it lock up or catch with pain?

I can understand you not wanting anything to do with the electrical. Do you know what I wonder? I wonder about the long term effects with the nerves that go to your brain and elsewhere. I mean, I know I have nerve pain and issues with my lower legs now but what about to other parts of the body? Will I know before the damage is done? It's something to think about because I can tell you the muscle wasting in my legs just kind of started happening and deteriorated very quickly. I didn't see it coming until it was happening rapidly and still is. The pain I felt coming but there was no answer or explanation for it, the wasting, was a complete off guard surprise. Yes, I like the information about gelatin too. All these years I thought it was only good for helping to grow stronger and longer nails. It did work for that.

The hip replacements are a whole nother nightmare for some people. I knew 1 guy who had a replacement 4 times. He still would get excruciating pain that would cause him to fall and be stuck on the floor. The ambulance was forever coming to get him. Until the last fall ended it for him. I think he was in his 50's. I've not heard a lot good about getting hip surgery over the years. I don't know maybe it's improved in the last couple of years? @Terry Coywin

My MIL has had a knee replacement and a hip replacement. She's done very well with those for the past 10 years or so (she's 85).

Good! Maybe she's one of the luckier ones. I've never met anyone I don't think who has had a knee replacement. There are lots of people with hip issues for sure. Hell, while out walking in the past few weeks and meeting strangers I met a couple more seniors with hip problems. One is recovering from surgery now, she's having a real tough time with it. I've stopped to check in on her a couple of times. I'm glad for your MIL. @Beth Gallagher I'm realizing lately that there are many other seniors in this town that have been struggling with being housebound for physical reasons. People that have no one checking on them or looking out for them. I'm really kind of disgusted by the whole thing. A community this size shouldn't be overlooking these people.

I'm sure there are plenty of seniors everywhere who could use help but can't afford it and don't have family to help.

When you get out and start talking to some it breaks your heart. Like, I would just help all of them if I could.@Beth Gallagher

    Very very insightful observation !

They rarely seem to do the simple tests that actually tell what is happening....
instead, they do inconsequential costly tests and ex rays that can be used many different ways without at all revealing what is actually wrong, or why.

Yes, money - "you are paying", or the government, or insurance, paying for the confusion and lack of ethics in the profession.

Sometimes a support group , independent of control by the so-called experts, is the best help available -

both to actually identify the source/ cause of some issues, and to learn where to go, who to go to and ask, for truthful information.

Some people were facing over ten thousand in bills for one procedure, and asked what to do ?

I showed them what else/ who else/ they could ask , and they followed through , and saved all that money,
spending only a couple hundred, without risking serious damage from surgery, anesthesia and drugs then and later.

p.s. they were (and remained) ecstatic! :) or at least still very content and more healthy, for years....
