I have been voting absentee for many years. I started the year after I almost didn't make it to the polls because I was working late. I made the decision never to go to polls again My late husband enjoyed voting in person..and chatting with others in line is kind of fun but with the virus now I am happy I use the mail As I understand it, the general mail out of ballots is quite susceptible to fraud...but absentee is safe
I vote in person. There are less than 3000 people that in my town and district. They park the fire trucks in the street and setup in the bays. Open 6:AM to 9M. All the old guys be their in their flannel shirts wearing ties. Any other year the diner would be spilling onto the sidewalk, the Sportsmans club would have an election day supper. The covid changed all that. If we go mid morning mid afternoon there probably will be no waiting.
I always vote in person. I don't trust the mail. After all, there's a reason they tell you not to send cash through the mail. Plus, we never have a line that takes longer than a few minutes.
Thanks everyone! I never considered the mail unsafe for voting when the mass mailing idea was introduced...then I read about ballot harvesting ..but that does not affect absentee ballots so I shall continue with them Thanks again
Al...From where? Are you saying absentee ballots are as likely to be misused as the mass mail in ones??
No it is just as easy for me to go get absentee and return it myself. My wife is ambulatory so we always vote absentee in Maine
Our county is doing well, in spite of horror stories on national TV about early voting in some places in Georgia. I voted absentee, by mail. Dropped it inside the post office Friday. I will miss going to the polls on election day. The only other time I voted absentee was 1972. We also have 5 drop boxes this year, and a new online vote checker webpage. It tells you if they received your absentee ballot. Mine shows received and accepted today. Right now there is still only one place you can go to vote early in person. Downtown, no parking, not enough room to wait inside. I did that once. Starting October 24th they will open up 4 additional locations, plenty of parking. Lots of improvements here. . .
I voted in person today. Took about 10-15 minutes; no lines at all. The biggest waste of time was that they had removed the "party" button from the machines so I had to vote for each Republican separately.
