Calcium deficiency is a catch 22. To digest and absorb calcium you need to have strong stomach acid and pepsin to tear apart the bonds it has to other things and be free to absorb in the digestion. The problem comes calcium is needed by the cells to squirt acid and pepsin into the stomach. If you have had digestion problems you will probably have a calcium deficiency. To take a calcium supplement without dealing with the digestion problem you are wasting your money.
The last visit of my doctor I said is there a lot of type diabetes in this area . He said yes there is a lot. I said if you would like to do an experiment try this and I gave him some chromium. Later I had people sent from the doctor to get some from me. It is so cheap I just gave it away to the people. I guess we will see how many people got helped.
After yesterday, I think my relationship with my doctor is going downhill. I went in for a scheduled appointment and behold the miracle, I was the only one in the waiting room. This is a good thing, said I to myself. As it should be, I was immediately called in and the nurse did her thing with the weight and BP along with a question and answer period and was then moved to another room and was told the doctor would be with me shortly. Once moved to a very cold room #3, I sat. After about 10 minutes I started thinking about stupid stuff like, “why does the nurse always close the door whilst I wait for the doctor and why didn’t the painters of this room not caulk the cracks between the floor and the baseboard?” About 10 more minutes passed and feeling even colder than I did when I first arrived, I started to get impatient. Another weird thought came to mind. “Why am I called a patient especially when they make me sit here for so long that I become an impatient?” Deciding that since I am now an impatient, I mentally posted a time limit of 10 more minutes of this refrigerated room and I’m gone. I set the Apple Watch for ten minutes and when it dinged me I got up, opened the door and proceeded to walk down the hall toward the exit. DANG! The woman at the checkout window caught me! Okay, says I, I’ll go back and the doctor showed up about 30 seconds later with his lap top in tow. His first question was, “have you had a recent blood test?” “No” said I, “but you should have that information in your log.”(I’m still a bit irritated) His next statement started a non-dialog I still cannot believe. He told me that my blood pressure was still too high and he was going to prescribe another medication to add to my present one. I basically ignored his recommendation and asked him if he had accessed my VA records and he told me that the VA didn’t allow that. I informed him that my personal records have all been signed off on so he and any John Doe in the world can see what my history is. I further told him (nicely and calmly) that he should be concerned over the fact that nearly all of my organs went into failure only about 5 years ago and it might be pertinent knowledge for further experimentation with my body. I mean, thought I silently, what good is it to know that my grandfather had heart problems if ya don’t know about my personal history? He wasn’t paying attention. He nodded, then nodded again as if I was his wife sitting across the breakfast table from him whilst he read his morning paper and slurping down his coffee. Bottom line is that’s it. No more physicians that nod their heads and push medications. Granted, I do not like anyone to fawn over me and treat me as though I’m old, but I do want someone to pay attention when I speak. A doctor should know more about my body than I do but this guy just didn’t seem interested and moreover, seemed totally distracted just like the last time I saw him and the time before when I was a lot more patient. The hunt begins.
My doctors are my fishing and shooting friends so I see some of them weekly almost every week this week dinner with my dentist and wife, tomorrow fishing with my Gen MD all day if weather allows it, so per topic yes a close relationship with them possibly reload ammunition with another on Saturday or go shooting. From the 1st friendship with my dentist this all transpired now close to 8 years. I am very blessed to have this relationship.
@Bobby Cole I'm scheduled for a prostate biopsy next week. I was in the urology center for an unrelated problem when the exam discovered a nodule. The GP I hooked up with when I moved here "does not do" the digital exams...he relies on PSA levels. So now I've got this to deal with, and am angry at myself for not having found a real doctor so this might have been caught sooner, and so that there could be a documented history of exams and changes. All those decades of enduring that procedure, and when I really needed it, it's not there. Here's a link to MDVIP, that concierge service discussed in Lon's thread. Doctors limit their patient workload to 600 or less. You will never be left waiting, nor will you be rushed. Fees are about $1,600/year ($137/month.) I've had a doctor in this program and loved it. I'm thinking about seeking one out in my area. There are 9 doctors in the program in the Huntsville area.
I have known one for about 4 years. He goes to the same gym as I do and I might have a small talk with him just to see if my insurance will cover it.
And there I was, on my left side with my rear end bare and awaiting the worse when this blond haired beauty looked over my right shoulder and looked me in the eyes and said, “good night”. Colonoscopies can indeed be embarrassing. Shoulda been some old codger.
I can't imagine a doctor relying solely on PSA levels. A digital exam would have found that nodule in a flash. Medicine today is getting very sloppy.
I've been with the same cardiologist for nearly 30 years and of course we are on a first name basis. His dad was my doctor before he was. I only see him once a year now unless something pops up, but we have a great rapport. My family doctor and I clash at time. She's an Egyptian, very brusque, but I make her stop and listen to me. I don't like being brushed off by any physician no matter how busy they are.
It's making me angry because I had great doctors when I didn't really need them, and now I struggle to get what I consider to be a minimum standard of face-to-face care. It's weird because these guys are so quick to pull the trigger on referring me to other specialists and on handing procedures out like candy. I'm not complaining about not having to fight for the next level of care, but I'm now suffering because the basics these days seem to be in short supply. This better not be something serious that went on for too long...
I saw 2 urologists before finding the guy who's going to do my biopsy. I don't think I completed a sentence with the other 2 without being cut off. I don't think it's being busy, I think they want you to shut up and do what they've decided needs to be done. The first really arrogant guy is American, the one who really interrupted is from India.
I'm with you, John, about it being very serious. I told my son about this on the way to my cat scan this morning and he just shook his head. He said his doctor conduct digital and PSA routinely.
PSA test is very inaccurate many things can increase the count and have nothing to do with cancer. Look it up.
