I believe Biden is one of two things: -The throwaway candidate you stated. -A Trojan Horse to carry Harris into the White House once he is declared to be incompetent. That being said, Republicans have no room to talk. They hand out nominations as so many gold watches for years of loyal and faithful service to the party. Trump is not one of them.
It is quite sad and upsetting that no representative of the people will ever have a true voice in congress without being a puppet of their party. That freakin' party affiliation is always hanging over their heads, and if they want election backing or to ever have meaningful legislation passed they have to sell their souls to "The Party," and that goes for both sides.
Until maybe 20 or so years ago, this stuff never existed in Virginia. I've always voted for the candidate and not for the party. There has been a long history of conservative democrats in this state. But not any longer. So all accountability in the individual candidate has been lost. The benefit of competition has been lost. Candidates get our votes for what they are not. There is a Republican woman running for governor next cycle (Amanda Chase.) Amanda is currently a state senator for the district next to mine. She open-carries on the senate floor. I've met her at a few events...a great lady. She got thrown under the bus by the Republican establishment last election because there was a Republican sheriff in her district up for election, and he was milquetoast on gun rights...so she declined to endorse him. Because of that, the Republican machine withdrew all support from her. Because of that, she started getting grass-roots support from all over the state. I've contributed money and have driven the hour to her home base to support her events. She may end up being an unintentional change agent in the party here in Virginia. She should be their poster child, not their step-child. Democrats have already endorsed their "let's make history" candidate for governor (Northam has maxed out the #terms). Republicans have not picked their candidate yet. It's gonna be interesting.
They're still angry at the woman who claimed that a dingo ate her baby. How dare she refer to the Aborigines that way???
I just saw a commercial for that chess set where the pieces are politicians. They've not updated it for a while. They got Republicans (with Trump) on one side, and Democrats on the other side...with the Democrat nominee TBD!!! They show the drawing of Biden, of Sanders, and of Warren. Which will it be? Hmmmm.... I tell ya, he don't get no respect. C'mon, man!
Hey, Paul. Welcome to the Forum. We have an area where new folks can tell us that they've arrived, and can share a little (or a lot, or nothing at all) about themselves if they care to. Click here. See you around!
