I start my day with Physical Therapy at 8:30 AM and breakfast at 10:00 AM I will have a Laser Procedure on both eyes at 11:15 AM. My ballot was mailed a week ago so no standing in a voting line for me. I will spend the rest of the day finishing up a couple of movies that I started yesterday. Hardly an Exciting Day.
No exciting day with us either. One thing for a definite sure, we aren't going anywhere. Will, off and on, watch the results, as they are shown. Will be extremely glad when this is over!
@Beth Gallagher Eye Dr. for my wife tomorrow morning, then over to Laughlin: the Mall has some tretky she wants. Then, Riverside Casino, where she has food credits accumulated. We will eat lunch in the Riverview Cafe: I'm hankering for the New York Steak, soup, baked potato! My day off from dialysis. Election day will affect us not in the least bit. Frank
Sounds excellent, Frank. Enjoy your day and your steak! I had to look up "tretky"; I'll have to add that one to my vocabulary. Interesting that the translation to Queen's English is "frippery." So I added two new words today.
@Beth Gallagher "Tretky" is a Czech word my Dad used to describe the stuff my Mother bought............"Frippery" might just be synonymous. Frank
Tomorrow is the only day that people can vote here in Alabama. We are going to wait until around 10 am, so the people who vote and then go to work will have done that, and it will be before the lunch break people get there around 11-12. We have never had to wait long before, but with the covid restrictions/6 foot rule; any line is going to be much longer. It has been seriously COLD here, and I have been huddled in the house with my warmest sweats and sweater vest on all day, and fingers are still freezing. Hopefully, warmer tomorrow. I have a walker with a seat that I got from when I had the heart procedure, and I am taking that along in case we have to stand in a long line. Too bad they do not have special lines for old people who can’t stand long, but the walker will help a lot, and we are prepared to be there however long it takes. The voting place is just down the street at a community church, so easy enough for us to get there. Once that is done, we will probably just come home and see what is in the results. Of course, I am hoping for a landslide win for Donald Trump, but any kind of win will work as long as it is decisive. For most of the year, liberals have been being programmed to stay home as much as possible, and do their voting by mail; so there is likely to be more Trump supporters out there voting tomorrow .
@Yvonne Smith , don't they have curbside voting there? If you have any kind of problem that makes it difficult for you to go inside, they bring you ballot to you in your car. You fill it out and they take it inside and put it in the machine.
Gonna go vote. With the ballots that have been cast and the remaining estimates of who has yet to vote, tomorrow's turnout is gonna decide which way Virginia goes. I'm still trying to figure out how that's been quantified, since we don't have party registration in the state. Then I'm gonna swing by Walmart to pick up some groceries, then I need to get outside and start clearing out an area behind my garage. I used to watch election returns on TV, but stopped starting in 2012. No sense in doing that, and if Trump wins it won't be called tomorrow anyway.
I voted Absentee ballot in Septembe which was received at election headquarters here in Morris County and accepted. It will not be opened and counted until tomorrow as per state law. Since I live in the Metropolitan area of NYC, all the towns are really battening down the hatches. Business have been putting up plywood over their windows and adding extra bar locks to doors. This is so sad and in all my years, I never thought I'd see anything like this. What a savage nation this has become. Permissiveness is not becoming in the long run at all. We have cops all over the place including state troopers. There are a few MS-13 members in the area who are being closely monitored for who they are aligned with. My deepest hopes are that Trump will win decisively and it will be done at night's end. I doubt this will happen but I can dream. I do not wish for a revolution of any sort whatsoever. My son has his weapons ready if necessary.
The "rule by violence and chaos" are what we are voting against. Reminds me of the Black Panthers standing at the polling place in Philly in 2008. Nothing was done. That was the toe in the water. Our nation has not become savage...just one faction that seeks to destroy. The vast majority of us "regular people" on all sides of the aisle are as we have always been.
@John Brunner Black Panthers; Ideology Anti-fascism Anti-imperialism Anti-racism Anti-capitalism African-American leftism Black nationalism Revolutionary socialism Black pride[2] Gun rights Chicago Seven; It was reported that at one point Abbie Hoffman requested the judge allow his friend into the courtroom. The friend carried in a live pig. Hoffman proudly told the judge he was planning to run the pig in the election for Mayor of Chicago. "Ultimately, Judge Hoffman severed Seale from the case, sentencing him to four years in prison for contempt of court, one of the longest sentences ever handed down for that offense in the U.S. up to that time.[17] Due to the judge's unconstitutional actions, the contempt charges against Seale were soon overturned by the U.S. Court of Appeals.[18] The Chicago Eight were then reduced to the Chicago Seven. The defendants, particularly members of the Youth International Party ("yippies"), Hoffman and Rubin, mocked courtroom decorum and the widely publicized trial became a focal point for a growing legion of protesters. One day, defendants Hoffman and Rubin appeared in court dressed in judicial robes. Hoffman blew kisses at the jury. Judge Hoffman was a frequent target of the defendants, who insulted him to his face.[19] Abbie Hoffman told Judge Hoffman "you are a shande fur de Goyim [Yiddish for 'disgrace [even] for the gentiles']. You would have served Hitler better." He later added that "your idea of justice is the only obscenity in the room."[19] Both Davis and Rubin told the judge "this court is bullshit." I mailed in my ballot, a long while back. I followed it, online. It made it to the voting officials. I will stay up, tomorrow night, watching returns. I hope things go the way I want them to, but who knows, this day and age?
I do have an appointment with Social Security this afternoon since there is a problem with Medicare getting my date of birth wrong. I do not, for the life of me, understand how someone can get the number 17 from 11. I was born on Jan. 11th, yet Medicare insists it was the 17th. This has caused no end of problems for me and I want it over and done with now. SS has it correct, but there is a protocol to follow in order to correct this everywhere. Sigh.....
