Fwiw, I just now looked up how cortizone works - (reducing inflammation) - and often takes days to take effect, and with many possible side effects. Those who wish to, may look for the natural things that the body uses to reduce inflammation, non-toxic things, and low cost, that work in less than an hour most of the time, with no side effects at all (except to bigfarma's pocketbook(profits) ) ....
I normally use Bromelaine, the chief enzyme found in Pineapple and Papaya. It does do a great job of reducing inflammation if one hasn’t eaten a meal of proteins before hand. That said, most anti-inflammatory foods will not drastically target and decrease inflammation the way cortisone will when it is applied between the joints via...the dreaded needle. The caveat to that are indeed the side effects that come with continual use but the good doctors will not allow more than one shot per 6 months to a year. My son’s mother had numerous shots of it to her spine before it was found to be dangerous hence her hips had to be replaced because of cortisone induced arthritis.
Hal, How great for you! I know it worked on some of the horses at stables I worked at. ; ) It just didn't work for me.
Well, for over twenty years, I've used the enzymes like you mentioned, and some others also, and even when vertebrae were out of place and I could not turn my head or neck one-quarter inch, the pain was relieved in less than an hour. Realize this did not put things back in place - only reduced the swelling to where it did not hurt, for 4 to 8 hours, then I'd take more as needed, until I could get things "put back in place", and then I did not need any more at all - I was immediately and totally pain free , and that worked in my experience many times ... the people I told about the natural helps, likewise, said within one hour their pain was gone, sometimes in half hour, after days or even two weeks of no pain relief using rx their dr gave them... I still tell them if they are under a dr care, to keep going to the dr, I never tell them not to go. This way, when things go well, the dr confirms it , which is great for 'peace of mind' and assurance that what they thought happened did in fact happen , i.e. no mystery really.... and if things don't work as expected , the door may still be open for medical intervention as needed.
Speaking of horses, how about that DMSO? I didn’t know about the stuff until I was a horse owner and my son’s mother was stealing it and using it on her hips. Back in those days, ya just about had to bribe a vet for some watered down junk if it was directly associated with an animal but still, it works extremely well on tendons, ligaments and such. The only thing I do not like is the continual taste of oysters. If I’m going to taste oysters there had best be al few sitting in front of me...with crackers and tobacco.
