To another thread then, cool. thx. btw, according to the Bible (Christians claim to believe), two thirds of all people on earth refuse to repent of serving demons (i.e. even if they believe in the Creator, they refuse to do what He Says). i.e. so no, not nearly all, only a few, people , believe in the One True Creator.

I’ve posted links to a couple of dictionary definitions, Ken has posted links and a couple of others have done the same but still, you just don’t wanna have religion....so don’t. It’s okay Lon. I really do not care what you call yourself or how you define yourself or anyone else for that matter. You have heard what needs to be heard in your life so what you do with that life from now on is between you and ........I suppose you. Whatever Atheism is, you decide for yourself because let’s face another fact that people will make up the rules as they go because.....it really doesn’t matter. Which brings me to a question: Why does it matter so much to you? You’re a Humanist but as a human, you can make up those rules too and become a Lonist. Regardless of everything you may have read the fact is that Atheism is not a religion. We don't follow rules, we don't gather to discuss the "no existence of god, we don't believe in the after-life...Yes, we believe...but in all those things that are real, touchable, things that can be proven scientifically. I have discussed this matter with my cousin -the only family believer (yes, he is a priest)- and he laughs when somebody says that Atheism is a religion. Regards.
Do the research Silvia. Atheist “churches” are springing up all over the world and in particular, the U.S. As with any word, if we do not like the definition then we simply do not use the word or possibly petition the powers that be and have it changed to suit the days. Personally, I can’t stand the word religion nor do I like the would religious but because I do have a belief system based on faith I am designated as being religious. I can’t change it so I do not use it.
Again, no one else is confused so you’ll have to own that part. So far as nonsense, do the study yourself or is it that you think anything that doesn’t agree with you personally is nonsense? yup....Lonism.
Bobby you can screw around with definitions all you want but you can't make atheists believe in any of the many gods. Since we don't believe in or worship mythical beings we are not a religion as per what most of the world's population would define one. You can come up with some silly definition of what a religion is but that doesn't change things in the real world.
I do not make up the definitions in the books that were there long before I was born., I have no control over that. The bottom line here is that you can be whatever you wish isn’t it? If you do not like what is in the books then that’s okay. I do not care. You guys are worried about a word but that word hasn’t changed the way you do things does it? You still get up have your coffee and go about your day don’t you? Then, if you do not associate yourself with that word then don’t. Problem solved. If ya’ll want something to do, define the word “thought” and get back to me. There are 3 definitions in the books yet it’s recognized by the whole science community that they’re not accurate.
Call those meeting places anything you want........but I belong to a five decades Atheist family; trust me, they are not churches. Now, as I said in other thread...I don't debate with people who need "" to be right" .

Thank you for teaching this teacher (myself) that I am religious because I capitalized "Atheist". LOL If it makes you feel safer (about your beliefs) to think Atheism is a religion so be it. My cousin, the only believer (and a priest), in a family of more than hundred Atheist, would smile at your post.
I have absolutely no need to be right but I do have a need for correct unimpeachable information. For me, I leave no stone unturned until I am fully satisfied that I have done everything in my power to arrive at the correct answer.....about anything. If I do not know, I will write or say I do not know and then go research it if indeed it interests enough to do so and quite frankly, just about everything in this life interests me.
