Made another batch of coconut cookies, and a batch of oatmeal cookies with walnuts, yogurt, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, and shredded carrots.

The oatmeal cookies taste pretty good, but the timing of taking them out of the oven and letting them rest makes all the difference between an intact cookie and a mangled mess. The reviews said to grease the cookie sheets even though the recipe calls for ungreased, and even at that, some were tough to break free. I wonder if parchment paper might be a better solution.

I used my dehydrator as a giant cookie cooling box. Works pretty good for this. And the smell of the air blowing across a bunch of cookies beats the heck out of potpourri.

The more I thought about it, the more your suggestion made sense. I can run the screen through the dishwasher. There's not gonna be contamination at room and fridge temps.

I picked up a roll of it today pretty cheap...way more than I need to cover 4 cooling racks.
I'm sure it will work out fine.

I usually only bake a single sheet of cookies at a time, but I just wipe down the granite countertop and transfer the cookies onto the cool granite to cool off. The less "gadgets and stuff" I have to store, the better.

I have a granite countertop. I would have thought I needed to keep heat off of it...not sure why.

As you've seen, I can't make a small batch of anything. Most of these cookies will hit the freezer to provide an uninterrupted supply.

Granite. One of the most heat-resistant countertop materials available today is granite. This natural stone requires extremely high temperatures and high pressure to form. You can place pans straight of the stove or oven on a granite countertop, and you won't see any marks or stains on the surface. https://www.graniteworksmd.com/what-are-your-best-heat-resistant-countertop-options/

Between my husband and me (and a gallon of milk), cookies seldom reach the "cooled off" stage at our house.

How about that. And I have always been certain to use a hot pad.

I did know you could cut on it (I don't), but the downside is you dull your knives real fast.

That looks like something one of my sons would have "cooked" back in the teenage years. :D

For some reason I was hungry tonight.

It's 1AM and I just finished a big bowl of buttery, salted popcorn and then had a frozen miniature Baby Ruth bar. I could eat another Baby Ruth bar, but I won't.

I just had a handful of Kirkland's (Costco) Chocolate Covered Almonds. Considering a trip back downstairs... :D
