Me too @Chrissy Page . I raised two step-daughters and my two boys. I made a point of getting them to understand that we all needed to be self sufficient, so we can be helpful instead of a hinderance to others. Well my boys took home economics, typing, cooking, sewing, and parenting classes, which of course made their future wife's happy. Now the girls decided none of any those things were important, because their grandmother paid for all of those things for the girls. When their grandmother died, the house keepers stopped, and now I refuse to enter their houses. They think those kinds of tasks are below them.
The other night my husband was reading an article in the Readers Digest. It is about the elephants of Myanmar which were used to carry logs. But now that logging has been banned, the elephants have no job and the owners and trainers are having a problem. Elephants, according to that article, eat 200 pounds of food in a day. It's hard to imagine the cost of that 200 pounds of elephant feed that I guess would be plants or maybe vegetation but not grass. By the way, here is my photo with an elephant during our trip to Bangkok in 2013. That's a live elephant intended for selfi.
@Corie Henson , It looked like you're having a great adventure. Those guys are a bit large for me. That picture would have been of me waving at the elephant from 'afar'. The closest I've come to an elephant was when I purchased a pair of elephant hide boots for one of the guys in the family.
I love the photo, Corie. You're so cute! That elephant looks young and seems happy with you. 200 pounds of food a day, wow.
Next month we are going back to Bangkok with 3 nephew and nieces so I'm sure we are going to take the elephant ride since the kids can take our pictures while atop the elephant. By the way, that elephant is still a baby according to the trainer (he is the one at the back with his head visible). Elephants are like dogs that needed to be trained early in life so they do not become vicious. There are temperamental elephants that destroy things and even kill people although in rare cases only. The trainer said that the attitude of the elephant is a reflection of the care given to it.
Oh! ... now I know what to do with the dying oak tree stump in the backyard! My! Wonder how many hours of work went into that carving? ... seriously!!
I have two stumps in my backyard but they are too low. I've tried hiding them by planting a bush type plant in front of each one but didn't work so well.
I want the table and the tattoo, If I would ever consider a tattoo and I wouldn't the elephants would be it, my grandsons would approve. The almost 7 yr old would think I'm the coolest grandma. And aging skin would only enhance the elephants texture.
