Well, in theory but in order to modify the Constitution we have to have a Constitutional Convention of States. That said, the government CAN limit the types of weapons, ammunition etc that the citizens can purchase and even possibly keep. It’s an extreme stretch but with enough votes in congress, they could limit us to muzzle loaders and [since Joe and Jill Biden own a shotgun], shotguns. About the rest, if that shoe drops (1) I doubt if our own military will follow any instructions to kill Americans and / or (2) there are hundreds of thousands of trained military veterans who would undoubtedly have no problem with overthrowing any government that would harm American citizens. And, by the bye.....an overthrow of that type would be totally Constitutional.
There was that standoff not long ago where a rancher's family had been grazing for generations out west (Bundy?). The government showed up in force to make him leave (without court proceedings) and every rancher/neighbor with a gun and a horse showed up too. I am glad the government contingent left without too much damage. There are MILLIONS of guns out here. Even Democrats are buying them. I figure Republicans have more restraint but when forced to give up expensive firearms, will Dems hand them over now? ps more deaths are caused by medical mistakes than guns. Make your plans now on how to handle things if you like.
I do have to agree with you because whilst I do see (and hear) that guns sales are through the roof the crime rate in reference to the use of those guns is going down. In deference to that, the way I took the post was that a lot people are getting extremely jaded and would not mind having a reason to use a firearm. Now, whether they would actually have the wherewithal to use them is always a psychological paradox.
Not sure if I'm reading/comprehending your reply here correctly, but...........Huh? Federal Agents doing what??? If a person starts shooting, darn right any law enforcement will shoot.
Has everybody forgotten Waco and Ruby Ridge assaults under the Clinton rule? Military soldiers drove their tanks in the compound and filled it with toxic gas. The military according to the Texas Rangers were the ones starting the fire. The military was the ones with helicopters overhead playing "These Boots are Made for Walking" 24/7 with many children inside living in sheer terror. A Federal sniper took careful aim and shot an unarmed woman guilty of NOTHING with a baby in her arms. Have you forgotten that? That all happened on the command of Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno carried out the orders in fear of her life. Have you forgotten the murdered and burned communities and assaults on the police from the recent riots. Have you forgotten the people in St. Louis defending their property and now they are criminals? These were experiments leading up to the present. This is not a joke or a TV show. This is real. With the radical left in full charge, the Constitution means nothing. What will you do if Antifa comes calling because your name is on a hit list? They are the new hit squad for the coup that just seized power. If they hold a gun at your head will you denounce your faith if that is demanded? Will you bow before them and kiss their feet? We saw that happening this last year. Unless something totally unexpected happens, this is our future. When I saw our Vice president's knees buckle, I knew that was it. They win American loses.
@Faye Fox May 13, 1985 The bombing of MOVE When the police dropped a bomb on a quiet Philly neighborhood At 5:28 p.m., a satchel bomb composed of FBI-supplied C4 and Tovex TR2, a dynamite substitute, on a 45-second timer was dropped from a state police helicopter, detonating near the fortified pillbox on the roof of the house. Within minutes, a fire had consumed the roof and begun to spread. This siege was bordered by the mayor! Here's the view afterwards:
The military should never be used on its own citizens the are not trained in law enforcement ,crowd control or any other facets of police work . Soldiers enlist to defend their country not attack it.
Per topic: Yes I have been present at a shooting where death happened more than 1 time, not sure if I ever mentioned this here or not, I am ex military and law enforcement and shot competition handguns most of my life still do so, starting as a sub junior at an early age by my dad also shot on the US Army "A" Gold pistol team several years. I took off work to take dad to a doctor appointment and on the way back we were car jacked in Dallas Tx in a very good area blocked front and rear in traffic 2 suspects came toward us one on each side it was summer/a semi cool day about lunch time and dad had his window down they grabbed his collar and stabbed him in his right eye and face I was cut on my left arm and hand and face, I knew I had to act instantly and did so. I have a LTC permit and was armed also still in LE. I fired 2 rounds at 9-13" they said at the person who had dad stopping it instantly then did same with the one cutting my face I shall never forget the looks they displayed knowing they chose the wrong one to attack they paid the ultimate price for it, dad lost 1 eye from it, myself just scars still the attackers were black males in mid 20's the driver also was captured later and charged, it can happen to anyone at any time all should know that so many refuse to believe it though. I had quik clot in my 1st aid kit and applied it to dad and it helped shortly the LE and EMT ambulance came, both attackers did not survive, each shot 2 times in the face with a 1911 officers model almost point blank distance, just looking at my left hand and arm at the scars. so when you have to defend yourself and family you do so to survive, I got to be around my dad several more years from acting instantly. My vest and under shirt from that day photo. I was also almost a victim of another carjacking but when they saw their mistake and possible demise they ran, no injuries there, we called police and reported it was all that happened. They were exactly the same description as those that attacked us.
So far this years in the Vancouver we have had four hits the latest one a few nights ago in a popular park frequented by families these shootings are all gang related they seem to operate with impunity. Our gun laws don't permit us to defend our selves we are at the mercy of these scumbags .
A real fine individual there for sure fits the image perfectly for today's climate yet re elected again does that ever say so much! He also was involved in much more I did not list, no use to.
One week from today next Sat it will be my 2nd handgun match of the year, we may possibly have a bonus 5th Sat match also this month next Sat will be handgun only Feb will also involve carbines and shotguns I think, I take my matched very serious they mean a lot to me to still be able to compete in them, we recreate actual police reports if we can do so best we can, we have several officers shooting with us usually, we have also included a knife and fork as that was used in the real event in an eating place, we do not do the as we call them just stand and shoot but movement and doors, windows, in bed, in vehicles, under vehicles and my favorite night shoots by flashlight or road flares. Our church also has a shooting group I belong to, per totals recently we estimated on 2020 we shot over honestly way over 350,000 rounds at our club in matches, plus our 1st aid classes from local doctor members and training classes from local police, we take it very seriously. Yesterday I was in Scheels sporting goods largest in US and they were totally out of ammo like zero, we saw all this coming back in Feb 2020 plus reload so well stocked for along time, I do take this very seriously.
Pull the trigger? I seriously doubt it, and here is why. About 45 or 50 or so years ago I was asked to go squirrel hunting with my father in law, brother in law, etc. 4 of us. I was loaned a shot gun, it was a lovely fall day, and we split up to cover a large tract of woods. About 30 minutes into the hunt, I heard a squirrel, located it in a nearby tree, and took aim for a clear shot. But, I just couldn't pull the trigger. So I lowed the barrel of the gun, and found a nice tree to sit under for a while. I never went hunting again. And I never owned a firearm until about a year ago, when people were fist fighting over toilet paper. Talked to my older brother, is is a serious gun owner, asked him what to buy. He suggested a Glock 9mm, so I bought one and several hundred rounds of ammo. I did go to a shooting range and fired it a few times, and actually hit the target. But to pull the trigger on another human? I just dunno.
