Prompted by @Ruby Begonia comment about the Davenports Beer at Home TV adverts, here are a few more old and sometimes quaint ones.
I live Mikey! Maybe that's why I named my son Michael, there were none in my family. He was born 1976.
Yes English accents are a science in themselves, there are people that can tell virtually the street you were born in by your accent, I can usually work out the town, my mother's accent was totally different to my father's who was only born about 15 miles away.
Yes @Ruby Begonia ...in one the boy said stah instead of star, so cute. We have our accents here too though in different parts of the country.
Yes, and in the Davenport ad he says "Bee-ah" for beer. But in areas of New England, it's like that too.
I remember the cream cake adverts, which were done by Lyons as a kind of antidote to the dull Mr Kipling ads. They roped in a good few well-known faces on British TV and I recall Les Dawson (often in drag) being in many. The actress spraying a chocolate eclair everywhere is Pat Coombs, who appeared in a vast number of sitcoms in particular.
Looking at these vintage ads....some of them are beautiful, like the a bunch of Coleman's Mustard ads.
