@Cody Fousnaugh I did not realize how barbaric this sport was till I read your post. It sure was an eye opener to the "rodeo game". But then again, who am I to judge! I am a keen fan of the Heartland series and the rodeo events I watched on it does not exhibit the actual "sore eye" of the sport.
Susan, it just depends on how a person looks at rodeo. My wife, not raised on any kind of farm or ranch, absolutely loves rodeo. She looks terrific in her western attire, including her cowboy hat. When she placed her Personal Ad in a local magazine in So. California, she stated she was looking for a cowboy with a boat. Well, by then I already had some years of pro-rodeo experience behind me and I knew how to operate a power boat from being in the Navy and my Uncle had one. Not everyone likes rodeo, just like not everyone likes NFL, NHL, NASCAR, PGA and MLB. All of these sports have, to a point, a "sore eye" as well.
Oh for sure, Cody, it's like one man's food is another's...... That's why i said I am not to judge. This type of sport has been prevalent from time immemorial and not everyone's cup of tea.
Some rodeo photos. Notice the bottom photo of the two little brothers/cowboys in it eating corndogs. Now THAT is cute! All three from Colorado rodeos. Rodeo Cowboy taking down a steer during bulldogging, aka steer wrestling. Barrel Racer heading around a barrel.
But, when I lived in Anaheim, CA, I sure got judged. Some "judging" done here in Colorado, but not nearly as much as some areas. One reason we moved back here from living in northeastern Florida for 10 1/2 years. Heck, wife and I even got a County Deputy Sheriff escort into the gate at one rodeo.
While some may not care one way or another, I can't imagine why anyone would "dislike" rodeo photos. They might dislike rodeo, but the pictures aren't harming anyone.
Well, Ken, if I dislike something, I don't even want to see any photos of it. There are those that detest seeing snakes, whether real or photo. I could show a picture of a calf being branded on a ranch and there would be those that would say (about the picture) "disgusting", even though branding and ear tagging is for identification of the ranch. That's what I meant by "dislike" when viewing any photos.
Here's one of mine from 2008: I was a mod on a gun owner's forum and got to know some of the other mods, so I flew out there and spent a week with them camping and fishing at the Colorado border (Navajo Lake.) It is not the east coast! So very beautiful in its own way.
Hey, John and Bill..........so, would do you think of those rodeo photos I put on here? Or, should I ask, "like" or "dislike". LOL
Of course I liked them. I'm also a fan of western art, western culture, and photography of western events. I grew up in New Mexico and west Texas, where every Friday nightt it was football, and every Saturday night was rodeoing. I even tried it myself, once.
