@John Brunner I spelled gospel with two s's and didn't catch the auto-correction to gossip. Got it corrected now. Not a Freudian slip, but a faulty auto-correction.
I do my own nails. Last time I was in a salon was in February to get my "chemo pixie." Right now I don't have to worry about hair since I don't have any.
I get my hair cut every 2-3 months . I style it myself. I always colored my on hair. And I have only had one professional manicure and pedicure in my life.
Never been much of a girly girl. I don’t do the Mani Pedi thing. Got a haircut at great clips about three weeks ago, very close cropped in the back, Can’t do that myself.
my job won't allow for nail polish (as it can chip into the food) and we're not allowed fake nails or long nails. fake nails can pop off into food. both nails can harbor lots of bacteria and germs. as for hair...i have been cutting my own since the pandemic started. i actually like my cuts better than the beautician's.
My wife does it all at home, but I will trim the bottom part of her hair in the back. IOW, make it straight across. She doesn't have to much success going to a salon and it cost so much. She just colored her hair yesterday and it looks fine. Now, my wife's older sister will go to a salon for whatever. A long-time friend of my wife, from high school, would go to a salon for everything. But, her and her husband had the income for her to do that.
Some of these places here want $25 for a haircut and additional $15 to plug the curling iron in. If that's not bad enough, they don't always do a very good job on your hair.
I've never had my nails done in a salon. Probably could count on 10 fingers the number of times I've been for a hair cut in a salon, because I never like the results. The last time was 3 years ago. The girl asked how I wanted it cut. I told her, "Just cut it about 2" all over and taper it to the neck line in the back." ( All I really wanted was for her to taper it in the back. I can do everything else myself.) She said, "We can't do that." I asked, "Why?" She said, "Because I'd need a ruler."
Hair salon, last month. Nail salon in December 1973 for our wedding. Since then DH just shines my hooks with metal polish once a month
Once about 5 or 6 years ago I had full manicure and pedicure. It was in my Bucket List. Will probably never do again, cost too much. I had to stop coloring my hair when the ESF struck me and could not move my arms up. I miss my red hair that everyone loved, even me...but I look fairly decent with peppery and salty hair. Cheaper and easier on the kidneys I read.
