Not as far as I know, and Tim, I am not so optimistic about. He was not planning any trips, and was recovering from a surprise heart attack last spring, before he disappeared, with NO clues that he might be gone for a while.
He has a fun sense of humor. I'm sure he'll appreciate seeing everyone cared. It would be awkward, at our age, to have a 'Wonder If Person Is Still Alive' forum.
On my computer within my pass word manager is a note to let some body on here know I am gone. One someone might acutally care...and because this will explain why I didn't get to finish hitting the Like button.
I don't know that the Backwoods Home forum is still up. I don't see a link to it from the magazine site. I haven't been there in quite a while and it doesn't seem to be in my computer memory. I do miss Don Alaska and don't have a good feeling about his sudden absence.
Thank you all for your concern. My absence was due to a trip followed by an earthquake that took out my computer and I was unable to recover my password. I have no online presence other than here, so you won't find me on Facebook, Twitter, etc. No heart attack but the winters are getting harder on me. Like @Ken Anderson I have over 2 feet of snow on the ground and the temperature is back below 0 F. after a couple days near freezing.
WELCOME. WELCOME, WELCOME ! ! We have all missed you, and wondered why you just disappeared so suddenly. I know you had talked about a trip, but hoped that you would be back after the trip. If you had an iPad or a MacBook, it would save any stored passwords for you, once you save them. You can sign in to any Apple device and all of your information is saved for you. It broke my heart every time my old computers crashed and died , because I lost all of my pictures each time. Now, they are all saved to the cloud if that happens. I am just SO happy that you found your way back again, @Don Alaska ! Sending you a “moose hug” welcome home .....
So, no mushing across the northern slopes when a 16’ tall polar bear ate your sled? No traversing the tundra with a broken leg after you fought off the polar bear and killed it with your Swiss Army knife and skinned it to make a coat? No Inuits passing by who took you in and doctored you back to health? No young maiden who led you back to civilization? Just an anti-climactic story of a lousy earthquake and a bad memory. sheesh. Welcome back Don even if you didn’t have a broken leg and all that other stuff!
