The first two were kittens Annie and Maxine some mama cat left at our front door. Annie was just your typical orange tabby but with a cute, kitten face that lasted even 20 years later when she died. Really sweet pet. Smart. Athletic. Maxine was 80% white with some orange spots. Before long I noticed something unusual about Maxine...... and had to change the name to Max. Despite being neutered, he was always ready to fight. Mockingbirds didn't dare attack him the way they attacked Annie. He disappeared after only four years. Guess he tangled with the wrong critter, like the fox, perhaps.
I've been a cat and dog man as far back as I can remember. (wife also) We have about 4 cats now. (1 inside only, 1 in and out and the other 2 come by for food only). We also have cockatiels, and a parrot, along with a couple of opossums and raccoons who come by 1 or 2 nights per week. I can't even remember all the cats we've had over the years - I'd say at least 50 (some inside, some outside). Dogs I've had would add up to about 20. Our last little cat, we think was thrown out of a car and was pretty badly injured - with a battered eye, and some teeth missing, and he is o.k. now, after spending some time at the vets. Now he is great - very, very affectionate and happy just to be lying around sleeping.
My son and his family live on 22 acres in a "barndominium." They have several barn cats that are mostly feral, but they keep the mouse population to a minimum so he makes sure the little cats have food, water, and a warm place to sleep.
I'm tempted sometimes to get another cat. But then I remember the stuffy nose and sneezing. So I don't.
He got bad news from his doctor. He has a bad case of curiosity and we know that curiosity is a serious disease in the cat world. (Probably should have posted this in the humor section.)
@Shirley Martin @Beth Gallagher I'm sorry guys. It works at two other forums but not here. Being an Internet klutz, I don't have an answer. (That's the last time I try to be cute.)
Haha. I had been waiting for a chance to use the "Whatsamatta U" thing, Boris. (Bullwinkle's alma mater.)
