And I never even got to really ride it. Oh, well.
Last fall, I found one of those three-wheeler adult trikes at the pawn shop when Bobby was looking for new tools.
I put it on layaway, and then made payments on it until we got it paid for.
By then, it was winter; so we just put it out in the shed, and left it there.
This spring, I decided to try riding it, and we brought it out of the shed and out to the road. The first thing that I did was run over my ankle.
You know how you keep your left foot down to balance until you start moving on a regular bike ? Well, it turns out you can't do that on a three-wheeler without running over your heel and ankle.
As soon as I did that, a car came barreling down the street, so I tried frantically to pedal out of the way, and my bad knee was just not ready for that at all.
I yowled, turned the wheel too fast, and almost dumped the bike and me under the car, and it was good that my Sweetie Pie was right there to rescue me.

So........ I put the bike away and advertised it for sale.
I would probably have eventually been able to ride the bike; but this adds a little extra money into the car-fund for when I finally find one of those.
I still would like to have one of the beach cruiser bikes; so when my knee gets to where I can actually bend it enough to ride the stationary bike at the fitness center, then I will think about getting one of those pretty beach cruisers, pink, of course !

I felt your pain reading this, Yvonne. The physical pain, not any emotional pain about selling it. You sure were lucky not to end up under the car.

Cool bike....love that comfy looking seat.

I wouldn't mind having a bike but the last time I had one, I didn't use it very often. There aren't very many places around here where bikes can be safely ridden. Roads generally have no shoulders or bad shoulders, and drivers tend to think that there's something wrong with an adult riding a bicycle. The most common place I might ride a bike would be for trips to the store, where I wasn't planning on buying much, but there is a pretty steep hill between where I live and the store and, while I feel silly walking my bike up the hill, I have a hard time pedaling it up.

Fresno is nice and flat and we have trails and many places to ride but unless you do it very early in the morning, it's just too hot! Also, my back would kill me.

Some years ago I bought a new 3 wheeler like in the photo. Only then did I discover that my knees won't work good enough to pedal it. It's still sitting in my daughter's garage. I told her to sell it and keep the money, but she wouldn't sell it for the offers she got.

I have this big problem about bikes. I learned how to ride a long time ago. With the patience of my husband and his skill in teaching, I got to ride on my own in just 5 minutes. That easy. And I had been biking ever since. Since last year, I had been experiencing pressure in the office that I always come home stressed out. We are conscious of my health because I have maintenance medication for high blood pressure.

Late last year when we were in a lake resort, the kids (nephews and nieces) had the fancy to rent a bike. There were 4 of us who got each a bike for 30 minutes. After selecting the a bike, I sat on it. However, I felt strange as if I do not know how to bike. I couldn't make the bike move. My husband, in exasperation maybe, pushed my bike. And I moved... but I was not able to stop the bike in spite of my husband yelling for me to use the brakes. I really don't know what happened - although the paved pathway was smooth, the bike was moving very slow and it only stopped when I hit the planter box. And then I fell down with the bike.

No one could tell me why it happened. Even I couldn't think of a reason. It seemed that I had forgotten how to ride a bike.

@Corie Henson. I'm so sorry Corie but I can't stop laughing at the way you described what happened. I hope you were not hurt after the fall.

Mind you, I was hurt. And when I stood up, I looked at everyone - my husband, my 2 nieces and nephew then sat on the gutter and cried. I didn't know how I felt, maybe self pity or confused by what happened. Until now I am contemplating whether I had forgotten to ride a bike or I was just confused. I really cannot say. Maybe something is wrong with me but definitely I'm still sane. A downside to that incident is the fear of bikes as if I don't want to see bikes anymore.

Again I apologize @Corie Henson. Did you ever get checked over by a doctor? Most doctors would have wanted testing done like a CAT scan when one becomes confused like that.

Well, if I would ever contemplate getting back onto a bicycle or trying a tricycle, I certainly won't do it now. You poor ladies.

I like the look of the three-wheeler. The guy next door to me has some sort of motorized bicycle that seems interesting. Here in my neighborhood, people mainly get around on golf carts. I don't know if I could use a bike these days because of my back, but if I wanted to, I'd have to drive it (on the car) to the trails, because some people here aim at those on bikes or walking. I don't know what their issues are, but I certainly wouldn't want to be in front of them. The seat looks very comfortable. I could use one with a bucket seat for back support. Perhaps someday.

I've had moments like that @Corie Henson, and I attribute them to my Fibromyalgia cognitive fogginess (FibroFog), but hopefully it was just because you were in a new environment and had a mental hiccup. I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt, but the matter of fact way you described it was amusing.

I have my annual checkup but my sister who is a nurse said that I may need a CT scan or something that is related to the brain. Another suspicion is the maintenance medication that I take for high blood pressure. She wanted me to consult a specialist (that I keep forgetting to do). Maybe I have this trauma so I cannot think of riding a bike again but I am trying to psychologize myself into believing that it was just a mental lapse brought about by fatigue and stress maybe.

@Yvonne Smith , what is the purpose for the 3 wheeled bike? Is it because you're afraid of falling? The last time I think I rode a bike was about 12 yrs ago but I remembered how.

@Diane Lane , someone on another forum was talking about a motorized bike but they are pretty expensive..a few thousand dollars I think. It would be a waste of money here where it's flat and would defeat the exercise purpose.

It is a known fact that high blood pressure medication can have side effects especially if an adjustment to the script was made. Even if that is the case your doctor should be made aware of the details of your accident.
