I haven't looked over that benefit statement yet, Frank. It is called a "Monthly Summary" and is for March... so I'm not sure exactly what the $90k represents. Surely not for just one month, but I'll have to scrutinize it. It is an Aetna Medicare Advantage plan that is new to us this year, so I'm not sure how it works other than our maximum out of pocket is $3,000 annually. I hope I can wrap this cancer gig up before December 31!! I hope you are able to negotiate the waiver. If not send them $10 a month.
@Beth Gallagher Ah, yes! Good advice, to be sure! But, then, I would have to forego one meal out a month, a process very foreign to my gluttonous ways! Frank
@Beth Gallagher ....my BFF has had a pain that no test for 2 years has showed anything. Change of diet has helped her though. @Frank Sanoica ... Try not to let the debt get you down. I doubt very seriously many of the people who had the Virus and required weeks of therapy icu and etc. will be able to pay either.
Gloria--I'm sure that before I knew I had cancer, random pains weren't a "thing"-- just one more annoyance I chalked up to getting old. Now that I'm Cancer Person, every little twinge has me on edge. Honestly, it's pretty annoying.
Beth: "My oncologist prodded around on my abdomen and we talked about the pain that sent me to the Acute Care Facility last week. Neither of us has a clue. Doc wasn't going to speculate and only said that my labs are all normal and there's no swelling, fluid, soreness in my abdomen so another medical mystery. He said I'm actually doing great and my prognosis is pretty good, so I'll take it. (He resists saying "for someone your age," and I appreciate that. )" That's fabulous to read, Beth. I'm so happy for you. Yes, of course I wish you weren't in this position, but since you are, that's great to hear. Your description of the chemo room brought back some buried memories, but it was so accurate. Keep up the progress, keep it up.
Thanks so much, Lulu! Sorry that I brought back some unpleasant memories for you, but I'm glad you had them buried. I wish you continued good health and I'm so glad to hear from you.
I guess I'll just post this here, since this is a "diary" of sorts. Today is my birthday, and my son sent me tulips as he does every year. I had to smile because the enclosed card just says "happy birthday mama" with no signature. Since he's the one who always sends tulips, I'll just assume they are from my Kevin.
