I commented earlier about an unsliced white bread and unsliced Apple-Cinnamon Brioch I would buy and thick-slice for French Toast. I've also made homemade white bread and homemade brioche specifically to make French Toast with, again because I can slice it real thick. So my favorite French Toast bread would be my homemade brioche. I mean, what's not to like about a bread made with eggs and lots of butter so you can then soak it in eggs and fry it in even more butter..and then douse it in syrup?
We have been using a skinny baguette, thick slices, cut on an angle. We have two bowls for the milk and eggs, dipping first into the milk, then dip into the eggs, and into the pan. (SEE VIDEO)
I might have to try that. I've never made baguettes, but I have 3 French bread loaf pans that would work:
no, just a quick dip in the milk, then the egg dip, leaving the egg on the outside of the bread, and did I mention a light sprinkle of sugar! You end up with a light, sweet slice that's NOT soggy.
