This is one of my favorite blogs. They do vintage recipes. Ruth makes them, Tom tries them, and she photographs his reactions. So anyhow, I couldn't believe this wasn't a typo until I read the ingredients! Anyone ever have it before? Shockingly, it looks very good... and Tom liked it! http://www.midcenturymenu.com/2016/02/beef-fudge1967-a-vintage-recipe-test/
Aw @Holly Saunders ! Be a sport! It really does look good to me! And I truly do trust Tom's judgment. There are so many things he doesn't like, that when he says something is delicious, I take notice. Are you feeling better today? Uh... maybe not anymore, eh? Sorry!
Bless you for asking Mari...yes I'm feeling better than I did,..it's my day off, so I'm going to take things easy today..only one more day to do this week and then a long w/e off...yeaaah...but I think if I try that beef fudge I might be sick all over again LOL>>
I guess I'm an oddball, @Sheldon Scott ... you probably won't want to hire me to be chief cook and bottle washer then. But I like chocolate covered bacon, too... not a big difference. (Uh... I mean meat and chocolate together... I really do know that cows and pigs are different. hehe)
My immediate thought was "it just tastes like fudge". I didnt feel like reading the blog, so going with my thought, this is no big deal. A waste of good roast beef maybe. BTW, I also love chocolate covered bacon. Bacon refuses to be overcome by anything.
Hehe! I know, I know! It's in the fudge, @Ruby Begonia ! You'd try a piece with me, wouldn't you?! So far I don't think anyone has said they would!
Sure I would, Mari! I like a bit of fudge now and then, and this one actually has some nutrition from the protein.
Who would eat chocolate covered potato chips? I was reading an article somewhere that Trader Joes has them but haven't looked in my store yet. Out of curiosity I would buy it.
I have... and they're soooooo good! Well, as long as it's good-grade chocolate and the chips are thick enough, that is. Unless it's bugs or something that's not meant to be food, I suspect there's nothing chocolate covered that I wouldn't like... including beef.
Yes it looks like fudge Mari, but with so many other sweet things in it, I would think the beef would have trouble rearing its head, but it would be interesting to try it,..... maybe with a yorkshire pudding or two. @Mari North
