Every morning before I get out of bed I do mental check in my head; who is president, who is vice president
What the full date is - anything planned for the day. Sometimes I even do a few multiplication numbers in my head. This makes me feel like I am still together mentally. Then I may have thoughts about certain people or things that interest me. Then , I get up and start the day,
I was wondering if any of you have a morning ritual before you get out of bed? How do you start the day before you hit the floor?

    1. Find bathroom.
    2. Find coffee pot.
    3. After the 3rd cup, find bathroom.
    4. Thank God that He got me up and gave me another chance to get it right.

After I’m sufficiently awake I picture any 5-6 numbers in my head then shuffle them around in random combinations until I can no longer find any more combinations and repeat either the original combination or one of the others.
Sometimes I do it audibly and sometimes not.

Poodle sleeps at the foot of our bed all night. Early in the morning , Bobby wakes up and goes out to have his morning coffee, which I may or may not sleep through.
When I open my eyes and see daylight, then I start waking up, and that is when Poodle realizes that I am awake and comes up to tell me good morning, and get petted.
For the next few minutes, Poodle gets a full-body petting and massage, and then we get up. After the bathroom stop, I put out the dogs, and then go and tell Mr. Bobby good morning, and remind him that I love him, and then I decide if I want coffee or tea to drink.
I check the iPad while the coffee/tea is getting ready, and from there the morning just evolves into whatever is happening that day.

I do a crossword puzzle or two when I first get up. It seems to "prime the pump" for the day.

I get out of bed, turn on the TV, turn on the coffee pot (which I've prepped the night before), go to the bathroom, fire up the laptop, check the weather, check my news sites and read any articles that may be of interest, check my email, read any new comments that were posted here.

After that I may be on the couch for the duration, or I may do work around the property...it all depends.

I do sort of like @Gloria Mitchell does. I lie there for a while , half asleep, half awake, and solve all the world's problems. :) I do things that are supposed to help our memory; name all the presidents I can remember, count backward from 100, name the months of the year from December to January. Those are some of the tests that they ask at your yearly check up.

After all the world's problems are solved, I get up and make myself some coffee as a reward. :)

As soon as I wake up I make a beeline for the bathroom, then head downstairs to get my coffee. Return upstairs to make the bed and get dressed. So I don't do any ruminating before I get up, but I do my best obsessing about past events I can't change when I go to bed at night.

These are not thoughts but,I also stretch, lift legs, and a couple of other physical movements to get the body going.

Fantastic! If more folks thought about it they’d do the same. Stretching the body and mind before a workout is the most important thing to do and let’s face the facts; just going through a day is indeed a workout!

Mary, me too. In bed. I scroll through my NYT app on my phone, rarely read anything but like the advance warning if the world has come to an end or if the Vulcans have landed. At the end of the news is a mini crossword, just my speed. I figure if I can successfully do that in under 10 minutes then it's safe to get out of bed.

My mornings are generally pretty consistent, it goes something like this.
I wake up in a Flash my thoughts
" where the hell am I"
Realizing I'm in bed "I got to get out of here" I tried to get up, but the mattress sucks me in like a spaghetti "I don't want to be mattress filler" so I jump as high as I can, flying through the air I think "this ain't going to be good" it's okay as my fall is broken by my face as it hits the nightstand "ouch". As I lay there groggy on the floor I become an inspector "those spots on the ceiling they had to be from a prior tenant" I look under the bed "holy s..t there's a sock I've been missing"
I have to use the bathroom, I start crawling, the bathroom is on the other side of the kitchen, I reach a building support pole as I'm gyrating to pull myself up "anybody watching would think I was doing a pole dance" It's only a few steps to the bathroom, I reach it and do my business as I'm washing my hands, I look in the mirror " definitely Quasimodo today" my eye looks red and swollen "yesterday I was more like Mr. Magoo" My mouth feels funky, gotta to brush my teeth, Toothpaste is almost empty, I roll it up squeeze as hard as I can, nothing. "Put it on the edge of the sink aim it at the toothbrush, shape your hand into a hammer and hit it" a projectile of gooey stuff splatters on the mirror, I wet a the paper towel and clean the mess "toothpaste really cleans good the mirror never looked this hood"
I staggered to the kitchen table where my phone is charging " let's see what's happening in the chat room, I have no idea what to talk about nothing interesting ever happens to me."
    And so another day begins......
