I've fallen a couple times recently and needed the assistance of a neighbor to get me to a seated position. Are there any devices that will allow me to get myself up after a fall? Thanks, Hal the Feeble.
@Hal Pollner certain walkers that might can help with that. Since I have required an auto immune disease that has left my legs weak, I use a cane many times. Falling is my greatest fear.
They have what is called a PERSONAL LIFTING CUSHION. PERSNOAL+LIFTING+CUSHION&form=QBLH&sp=-1&pq=persnoal+lifting+cushion&sc=1-2
Here’s a lady who might be of help. No gimmicks or anything special, just common sense. - I’ve been there and it’s a scary situation so I can relate to what you’re feeling when you find yourself on the deck and can’t get up on your feet.
Sorry to hear about your falling. My doctor tested the bottom of my feet, and I have lost most all feeling, and that can cause me to be unsteady while standing. I haven't fallen yet, and can still get up by myself, but at some point I will need help.
@Beth Gallagher Nah, he don't look that fat! Seriously, falling down is serious business. I have vertigo, dizziness, which comes and goes at unpredictable times, and have fallen several times. I am now unable to get myself back up without help. This is why my wife refuses to leave me alone. Unable to get up is due to unexplained weakness in the leg muscles; sitting at a table, I have no trouble rising, but with knees bent closely together, pain overcomes strength. Frank
lon's "Personal Lon, that "Personal Lifting Cushion" might work for me if I choose the "floor model". The video posted by Bobby Cole looks nice if you can go trough the gyrations shown by Ms. Robyn Watson, but when I first fell on Good Friday, a month ago, I was unable to get into any of those preliminary positions while on the floor because I couldn't roll over or fold my legs or move my shoulders and arms to get into a position which would allow me to lift myself. The two men from next door were able to bodily lift me to a seated position on my bed. Up until a year ago I was able to exert strength in my arms and legs, but now I can't do a single pushup or rise to a standing position from a squat. To stand up from a sofa or chair, I need to be sitting near an arm of the furniture. I thank you all for the suggestions; I'll be going to a Rheumatoid Arthritis specialist next week. Hal
