I would suggest trying slightly cooking them and trying them. Several members of my family, all female have something called "oral allergy syndrome". This probably is not what you have, but it may be along the same line. My wife cannot eat raw apples, cherries, celery, and some other things, but if she heats them just for a few seconds, she can eat them fine. My own theory is that this is related to gastric and intestinal issues coming from histamine overload (or histamine intolerance in some texts). Does anything other than apples cause the same symptoms, @Ken Anderson ?

My quick internet skim said that hayfever and apple allergies are closely correlated. I would not have thought of such a thing causing gastric issues.

My theory is that one of the two histamine processing "channels" is through the gut, and if there is gastric damage done such as SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) occurs, it can reduce the gut's ability to process dietary histamine, thus producing a histamine reaction somewhere in the body. Heating food breaks down some of the histamine, thus reducing the histamine burden on the system. It is a simple test, and the other is to purchase a DAO supplement and see if that takes away the symptoms.

No, it's pretty much just apples.
