Iced Coffee In The Hot Summer Weather

    We have always used sugar in iced tea-maybe a Texas thing, not sure. For a gallon I use half a cup. My daughter makes hers so sweet it could gag a maggot...:eek:On the rare occasion we go out to eat, seldom order tea. Way too sweet and way too weak . You should be able to taste the tea, not the sugar :rolleyes:

    When you order iced tea in the urbanized northern part of Virginia, they ask if you want sweetened or unsweetened. In the rest of the state, they'll assume "sweetened" unless you specify otherwise (and you'll get the side-eye)...and they're likely to run out of unsweetened towards closing time because the demand is so low they don't bother making a fresh batch when they run out. When that happens, I ask for water.

    all the more reason not to order tea- out. Besides you save$1.50 on something that would not have been tasty anyway.:)

    This is silly, but...I feel cheap just ordering water. But IHOP charges $2.50 for it!!! Just like fountain sodas, it's all profit.

    I hate to say it but the only iced coffee I've tried that I liked is Starbucks. Not the stuff you buy at Starbucks, as that seems to be a different thing entirely, with a bitter taste that I don't like, but the Starbucks iced coffees that you will find in the grocery or convenience stores. I don't buy them often because they are insanely expensive, but I like them. I mostly buy it when I'm traveling because it's easier to drink that while driving than hot coffee.

    When in Wisconsin back in the 80's for business meeting. Dead of summer you order tea, they bring hot tea..oooh no can do.

    I had never heard of drinking iced coffee until I moved from Michigan to California, and it was pretty rare that anyone, where I grew up, drank iced tea. Both coffee and tea were assumed to be hot.

    I don't. It is offen better than anything you can buy when dining out. You pay for a meal, you should be able to wash it down with whatever you want without any remorse.

    I had a bottle of iced coffee this morning I got at QTrip. Called Stok..very good, very little sugar. 130 calories . I would drink it again for sure.

    Coffee = hot and black here
    Chiggers = have you ever used large cotton string like you tie a roast with soaked in coal oil tied around your ankles or a piece of cloth also works well this is NOT effective in high leafed crops or high grass.

    I have socks and outdoor pants that are treated with permethrin. I do it mostly for ticks. They can be thick here.

    I've never heard of coal oil...

    Coal Oil is a local Texas wording for kerosene..

    I used to have a kerosene heater in my old home...smelly but warm. I've never hear the term.

    Skimming through this thread, I had to wonder why some of you were drinking chiggars. :confused: And coal oil. :D

    I'm not a fan of regular iced coffee -- cold coffee with ice. But I have loved something called a granita, which seemed basically taking that cold coffee, blending it with the ice and maybe a bit of cream or ice cream. Yum. Hard to find anymore, except a similar mocha frappé product at McDonald's.

    On tea, I blend Constant Comment, 2 brands of Orange Spice, chai tea and sometime Lipton for a cold tea that doesn't need sugar.
