In all my years, I have never purchased candied ginger. I remember my mother having it during the holidays; I think she put it in fruitcake. Anyhow, I've been plagued with queasiness lately and have read that ginger helps settle the stomach. I ordered a pound of candied ginger from Amazon after reading that it can be put into boiling water similar to tea, and will steep into a ginger beverage.

Not sure if I have wasted my money but we'll see. Do you buy candied ginger, and what do you use it for?

I have bought it several times. I love it. I'd eat a few at a time. If it's fresh, it can even taste quite hot.

I used to get a scoop at Whole Foods but can't remember the price.

Yes, ginger is a known nausea reliever. I hope it works for you Beth!

Thanks, RB. I like ginger in many things, from Asian foods to ice cream. Have you tried steeping it in boiling water? I'm curious about that.

No, I haven't done that. I would just eat it for a treat. But it sounds like a good idea!

I picked up a packet of something that was called "ginger hot drink" in an ethnic market a few months ago. I made a cup and it almost took my breath away. Waaaaay too much ginger. I do like ginger, though, and enjoy the occasional piece of candied ginger.

My wife consumes a lot of ginger. She used to get the candied stuff, but grew to find that it was too sweet. After she was put onto a SIBO diet, she found her tastes changed and she developed an aversion to most sweet things. I, however, enjoy the candied ginger.

    Beth,
Ginger is supposed to be good for queasiness, so is peppermint oil.

Well. The candied ginger came today and all I can say is... ewwww. I'm sorry I purchased an entire pound of this stuff. It smells really good and the pieces are soft and pliable. But biting into that was almost shocking. I guess I like my ginger in very limited quantities. I will try it in some hot tea and see if I can salvage the bag.

It seems very fresh... and VERY potent. I just bit a tiny piece and had to spit it out, haha. I'm wimpy.

I think I'll cut some into tiny bits and mix into vanilla ice cream. I remember ginger ice cream from Benihana restaurant.

Maybe you can just cut some into tiny pieces and swallow with water, like a pill. At least it can work on the nausea without burning your mouth.

I'd rather have the ice cream, though.

We had candied ginger many years ago, and at first we had to get used to the taste, but then it was almost addictive, and I loved it. Since it was a candy, I didn’t buy anymore, but both Bobby and I enjoyed the ones that we had.
