Good call. Australia already has an emerging trade relationship with the world's largest democracy- the Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (2011).
    The CECA has
seen remarkable growth in the trading relationship between the two nations growing in value from $13.6 billion in 2007 to $30.4 billion in 2018. This was fuelled by the many complementaries between the two economies with two-way trade in goods and services, including, education, agriculture, energy, resources, tourism, healthcare, financial services, infrastructure, science and innovation plus sport. In 2018 Australia formally endorsed the independent India Economic Strategy and its ambitious vision for bilateral trade and investment by 2035.

I do not have any idea of what the rest of the world showed China but China definitely did see how vulnerable the U.S. is. The CV-19 virus, whilst virulent and yes, dangerous to some degree isn’t the cataclysmic element that crippled the U.S.
Much more dangerous is the panic that ensued after the virus was first announced and all that panic needed to come to full fruition were a few well placed doctors and politicians to keep the fear fire going.

We were at some economic heights we never knew could actually happen in such a short period of time and then a virus, with a mortality rate of around 2% is all it took to put a strangle hold on every citizen and business in the U.S. and it wasn’t even the virus that did it. It was the propaganda.
With the media firmly planted and favoring the fear mongers, they said we were all going to die unless we succumbed to the edicts of some authorities very few people had ever heard of.

In its very essence, this trial war was won by China and they didn’t even have to do much of anything.
    We did it to ourselves.

Betcha that is what the Palestinians pray for every nite. And the Burmese and the Belarusians.

Remembering that same sort of thing happened to God's people too - the adults who were afraid to enter the promised land
were sentenced to wander in the desert 40 years or so, until all who doubted God died there, as He Said Would Happen.

Then their children , who they had said would of been killed if they had tried to enter the promised land, were the ones who God Led into the promised land, alive. (this is from memory, but I think that's the gist of it)
    0000000000000000
Now, what? The adults who were afraid and/or trusted and followed man's way, will perish, just like the adult Israelites did who were afraid and doubting.

Those who are like little children, trusting God, will survive with eternal peace and joy, in this world and the next.

Every citizen of every country in the world should be praying that. Freedom is expensive and rarely totally experienced by those who are made to follow the edicts of the powerful.

The Eloi thought they were free. Everything they did, everything they ate and where they lived was free. Then, the Morlocks sounded the horn.

On China’s lead, our politicians and the media have sounded the horn,

Then there is the RAPTURE in the Bible where the good are spirited to Heaven while the sinners are damned for eternity. Is this something we Christians must face sometime in the future?

China is spreading its big, big wings and taking a much more aggressive stance in its own backyard. Remember their annexing of Tibet? Now the gaze is on Hong Kong (tick, A-), Taiwan (C+), South pacific seas,(a work in progress C-) .... with many debt traps set for poor gullible countries.(C) Cyber tactics([IMG] and blatant intellectual property thefts (A +) and eating endangered species ([IMG], Covid (A), Ledger book cheats([IMG], Desease pits(A-), Childish behavior (B+)...it goes on and on, and on.....
They upped to 220% tarriffs on my Oz goods for asking for a China WHO Covid investigation in Wuhan which brought on this petulent but very hurtful retaliation to us Aussies. Some say it was a brave move, others a foot in mouth misspeak. I vote the latter!
It's complicated, but we Aussies have been made their white whipping boy. Bugger that! I hope they do cross the line, say trying to annex Taiwan. Relative military strengths still greatly favour the US and its allies with China, for now.
I'd hope then the US, Aus, UK and Japan, S Korea ..and others, Philippines..would all be quick to respond...
They need to learn manners. Nanking, Holocost, Bloody Sunday, Dreseden, Hiroshima, ...Agincourt....get over it!
but learn from the lessons, like we ever do?!
It's our evolution, nature n destiny to be what we are.

Like Trump, Biden sees the Chinese as a global threat. Likewise is a spoken and unspoken system of alliances againt China's tyranny. The US, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, ..... and 1.36 billion Indians, with nukes, ... The British rightly realise China is a long way away.
They are currently claiming rights over half a dozen territorial waters, including reefs they have built up into Military bases. They treat their Uyghers punatively in almost concentration/re-education camps. I even heard of forced sterilisations and organ harvesting. Forget George Owells' 1984, this is worse!

The genocide of a Culture dating back to the modern day Turks', ancient history. Ancient remmnants of the old Ottoman empire and before, being systematically erased. From Turkey! I think Turkey is peeved at the Chinese too.

Their giant fishing fleets plundering the Seas by hook or crook.
Even near the Galapagos islands where Darwin discovered the early birds of Evolution. Dead as a Dodo now.

Their huge Chinese pollutions even killing themselves....

Emporer 4 Life. Eleventh Emporial Pooh the unBearable ..Totalitarian Authoritarian Dictatorial Controller.TADC.I would wish not to be born into such a world.

    Trust a snake before ....

Ironically, I love much of Chinese Culture and Cuisine.
Just not some semi opaque plan to create a culture of zombies.

    Thoughts? ?

Today I read China is now becoming a bit concerned about their global image. Ha ha, they velly stupit!

Spot on Terence. Took every word out of my mouth. You have written what much of the western world is thinking. China poses the greatest threat to world peace.

You did not mention perhaps their most insidious event since the overthrow of Tibet.. the tragic Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989. Those commies admitted to several hundred deaths, while a western study listed the actual death toll at 10,000..mostly young Chinese seeking a life free from tyranny and repression.
The people of Hong Kong have now been stopped from holding its annual Tienanmen Rememberance Day by a regime that is trying to erode any semblance of its one country two systems policy.

Below is a lasting symbol to remind the free world to never forget this tragedy.

    From The Daily Caller

    *********************************************************************

Microsoft’s search engine Bing appeared to censor images of the protester who stood in front of a Chinese tank during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.

A Bing Images search of “tank man” yielded no results and a prompt for the user to check their spelling as of Friday afternoon. However, an identical search on Google Images produced hundreds of results including many of the iconic moment.

The famous “tank man” photo was taken on June 5, 1989, one day after the 1989 massacre in which Chinese troops fired indiscriminately upon civilians demonstrating against the government, killing hundreds. The photo showed a Chinese protester, who has since become known as “tank man,” standing in front of a procession of Chinese tanks rolling through Tiananmen Square.

“I’d love to hear [Microsoft President Brad Smith’s] explanation on this,” Shane Huntley, the director of Google’s Threat Analysis Group, tweeted on Friday. “I know Microsoft censor for the [Chinese Communist Party] in China, but this search is from the US.”

Other users noted that the “tank man” image search yielded no results in the U.K. as well. “This is due to an accidental human error and we are actively working to resolve this,” a Microsoft spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Agreed Craig, TheTiananmen Square massacre in 1989 was a crime against humanity.
An outrageous bloodbath with the usual lies.
    They lack humanity, and shame.

I read moist of the comments and I pretty much agree with what was said. Now, how do you think this problem can be solved? Should we all learn to speak Mandarin? Another Hiroshima? Should we create a virus more powerful than the CV19?

The world is doing business with these people. Their ill deeds are being funded with the rest of the world's money.

-There is corruption at high levels that contribute to this.
-There is the desire for cheap goods at low levels that drive this.

This cannot be undone overnight, even if there were an appetite to do so, and even if it made sense to do so. Lots of people on the lower rungs of the economic ladder have higher standards of living (lots of "stuff") because of cheap Chinese goods.

"Manufacturing jobs" gets an emotional knee-jerk reaction, but I'm not convinced of the feasibility of returning them to 1st World countries, for lots of reasons.

Seems like China is finally falling prey to image problems!
Ha ha Sunshine, a bit late for that! We see what you do despite your hollow words.
Xi xiping wants us to understand China's current dastardly actions upon the rest of the planet as a payback to readdress past imbalances. Really?
What about 900 years of Irish occupation by the English, all the colonies, WWI, WII, displaced and genocidesd indigenous peoples. Join the queue buddy! It's history and in this fast chat modern world nothing no longer justifies the atrocities committed by the Chinese upon their own peoples and the rest of the world.
Still believing the experts on comparative military strengths I hope the US and a strong coalition of like minded countries put pressure on Chi-na to pull its horns in. Tibet was already a bridge to far. Now Hong Kong with all the broken promises, Taiwan, Uyghurs, vindictive Cyber war, callous Intellectual property theft, Tianamen square with tanks pulping protestors, Fake news, punitive bullying tarriffs, global Loan sharks, virtual Slaveries, False advertising towards competition, ...no soul! No honour.

Maybe it's still a bridge too far for the UK and Europe, but just look at the labels on your clothes, mostly made in China. Why?
