This is another quiet day. I did a load of laundry and putzed around a bit. Then I took my Kindle and sat out in a lounge chair in the sunshine for about 20 minutes. I'm not supposed to have much sun exposure but I'm a rebel. If I get a skin rash my doc can say "I told you so." It's a gorgeous day and I'm glad it stopped raining, though it's pretty humid out there. I sat on the edge of the pool steps and put my legs in the water; I should put on my swimsuit and get a little exercise. The water is cold but not unbearably so. The better half is at his mom's, so he'll be picking up dinner. Probably Mexican since that's our usual on Sundays.
Oh, I forgot I was going to share a picture of my new handbag. @Cody Fousnaugh should get one of these for the Mrs. This is from the Dooney & Bourke "Western" collection.
Are they made in Texas? I like that it is handcrafted and it is a nice looking bag especially in a darker color like yours.
No; according to the lining tag it was made in Vietnam. Very few Dooneys are made in the USA anymore, though they originated in Connecticut.
Ugh, it's Monday, which means a long day at MDA tomorrow. I'm already cringing and trying to have positive thoughts but the anxiety is building. I have read that some people get what is called "anticipatory nausea", which I totally understand and I'm trying to fend off. It's always something. I'm nervous about my blood work and hope that my blood counts, kidney and liver numbers are in an acceptable range. My foot is pretty much back to normal; I'm grateful that I won't have to be hobbling around the MDA complex tomorrow. Today I'm changing sheets and getting things done that I won't feel like doing for a week or so. It looks like the sun is peeking through so maybe the rain will go away for a while and let things dry out. I noticed a few of my flowers have actually drowned with all the rain lately. Looks like the palm trees are picking up momentum in producing new fronds, so I'm happy about that. Trying to decide what's for dinner. I have some leftover pot roast so that will be an easy solution. I need to start getting things moved out of the refrigerator freezer in preparation for the delivery of the new one on Friday. Of course the old fridge is running like a champ since I ordered the new one.
So today I've been in bed all day. Just not feeling great so I've been a slug. I'm kind of unsteady on my feet so I hope this will pass. So not much to report that is diary-worthy. The better half has called in an order to a local diner for our dinner. I'm supposed to be eating but nothing sounds tempting. So that's it for my fascinating diary update.
This week has been pretty much a blur...in more ways than one. I've been in bed all week; just decided not to fight it this time. The other "blur," besides days melting into each other is my eyesight. I can hardly see to read or to type on the computer... very annoying. I'm feeling OK but pretty weak. I've been staying in the spare bedroom with the adjustable bed, which really works well and is very comfortable. The new refrigerator is scheduled to be delivered today between 2-6 p.m. so my hubby has been busy unloading the old one into the garage refrigerator and freezer. As usual there was a pile of expired salad dressings, jellies, etc. that got tossed so it will be nice to start fresh. Not sure when I will feel up to "arranging" the new fridge but at least it will be up and running.
By "not fighting" because you are resting is not Not Fighting. You ARE fighting by resting. Don't worry about chores adding up. Who cares? You're the star of this show. No one's needs matter more than yours and you are tuned in to what they are.
Well. I seem to be on my way back from "The Brink" today. I feel almost normal; just a little queasy but I'm up and moving around. I am not good at laying in bed all day but you wouldn't have guessed it from the way I hugged that pillow all week. I'm planning to wipe down the new refrigerator with Lysol and begin putting things inside today; that should take a couple of hours trekking back and forth from the garage refrigerator and freezer to the kitchen. I have a grocery order coming later to replace all the expired salad dressings and condiments from the old fridge. I guess my refrigerator should be called the salad dressing graveyard; "where condiments go to die." I want to know how the refrigerator manufacturers get all that packing tape in those nooks and crannies??? I noticed when unloading the old refrigerator that there was still some of that tape along the freezer drawer, and I had been using it for nearly 12 years. Today is our 34th wedding anniversary; seems almost impossible that we've been married that long. What a lucky break it was the day that man walked into my office at mega-corp and I looked into those green eyes. He has been such a blessing to me and I can't imagine what I'd ever do without him. I'll share the story of our first date for your entertainment... He invited me to dinner and we went to the Spindletop Restaurant on top of the downtown Hyatt Regency. It's one of those "spinning" restaurants where the seating areas slowly revolve around, giving a 360-degree view of the city from the top of a high-rise. Very romantic. After having a drink I got up to go to the ladies' room which was in the center of the building and not on the "rotating" platform. When I came out of the restroom, the seating area had rotated, and in my somewhat addled state I looked around, didn't see him, and decided I had been abandoned. (Not much of a drinker.) Thankfully a helpful waiter noticed me standing there looking forlorn and walked me back around to our table.
