There is another Birthday today....Joyce, think she is mostly in games. Posting her bday in the bday thread.
I am the youngest in all the children of my father, we are 12 in all. With my mother, I have only 1 sister, the eldest and next is my only brother. In short, there are only 3 of us with my mother and the 9 are my half siblings with my father. When we were young, the sibling rivalry is very evident between me and my only sister. Since I am the youngest, I was the favorite of my father and probably that was what sparked the jealousy. When my father died in 1994, things seemed to have changed between me and my sister. First is the influence of my husband who tried his best to befriend my sister and her husband. As time passed, I notice that our relationship was turning for the better although my husband had invested in goodwill like buying a new air conditioner so we can give the old one to my sister. And then we would go to a theme park with my sister's kids, buy them toys. Things we did worked like a miracle and now we seem to be best of friends. In fact, we were together this weekend in a beach resort. We are like one big family now, my sister and her family with mine.
@Corie Henson, it's so nice to hear that you and your sister were able to move past the sibling rivalry to build a great relationship with each other. Family is so important to me I don't know what I would do without my family. That doesn't mean we have perfect relationships, because we all have different personalities, etc., what we do have is the desire and determination to love and respect each other in spite of our differences and stay close to each other because family is important to all of us. With all of us scattered in different areas now, we have to work together to find time together...but it means enough to all of us...so we do just that. Do you have a relationship with any of your half siblings? Or your brother? Big families can be a real blessing to our lives.
