I had planned to actually do the wagon train that started in Fox Lake yearly here in Wisconsin. It had been a tradition for years. When I finally decided which horse to take, my big Tennessee Walker, they decided to discontinue it. My husband said he wanted to see me when I got off at the end. I had to watch Wagon Train instead.
It seems this wagon train thread has been jarred out of the established ruts. I should clarify that when my Great Grandma traveled in a covered wagon there were three other wagons with them so it was a small train.
Gee man you should have called. I had a VW van I made into a camper and I could have joined in and it would have been a short train. Engine and caboose. Others with VWs would have joined in. Another missed opportunity sigh!
Not as far as my wife and her family are concerned. And, they are the ones that count! Bottom Line: Some folks understand humor and other either don't understand or don't like it at all.
Ok, Faye, Lon is talking about a wagon train, not a VW Train (LOL). And, to think you didn't like my humor of mentioning the tv show, Wagon Train, yet you mention a VW Train. Oh boy!
So, where you live, nobody has a "sense of humor"? Now, Lon, how would you feel if someone talked about your family like that????
I get it now. Lon wanted to have a serious conversation sharing some of his family's history and seeking others with a like past (or not). That is ok and interesting. He wants some control to the thread. My Father was a parapalegic (sp?) from polio. He wore braces and walked with crutches. Not funny. If I were of that ilk, I might be offended if someone took off with a thought about a skiing accident that ended up with crutches and apres ski. Cody and I have lost control long ago so.... Sorry Lon.
Just read your last reply that was to me. You seem to mention something about my wife's family when it comes to accepting my humor. Oh well, as the old saying goes.........."On with the show".
I never said I didn't like your humor about mentioning a TV show. I merely mentioned that the thread was going off-topic, no names mentioned, and Ken mentioned his Volkswagen, and I simply expanded on that in an attempt to get back to the wagon train theme with a bit of light humor. If you notice my first response was spot on answering Lon's question. Just because you didn't get the response and laughs you sought and Lon wasn't amused, no reason to pick at me.
