Has anyone moved or is thinking about moving these days? If so, where have gone or where would you go?

Haven't yet, but another part of northern Colorado where not so many Millennials and younger Generation X live. We really, really feel old living where we are now. And, more and more young folks are moving in. It's almost like living in a University/College dorm!

I miss living in Western Washington, and if I could live anywhere, that is where I would move to. I really like some of the small towns near the ocean, or at least one that was near enough to be able to drive to the ocean. It has nothing to do with anything that is going on now, or went on last year; so I am not sure why that might be a qualifier.

I moved out here to Alabama to be close to my daughter, Robin; but now she is going to be living permanently overseas where I won’t ever get to see her.
My two sons live in Idaho and Eastern Washington, so I never get to see either of them unless Robin and I went out together.
I have no attachment to Alabama, but it would be almost impossible to move anywhere else, and the doctors here are excellent; so this is probably where we will stay.

I know a lot of people are moving out of the States with crappy Governor's, etc. And many are also moving out of the cities that are facing so much violence, rioting, and crime sprees.

If we were living in any of the above areas we definitely would move again. I'm thankful that we live in what we consider a safe place. And our Governor though Democrat seems to be more interested in serving Louisiana instead of himself.

Are any of you living in the unsafe areas? If so, how do you manage to keep safe?

This would be my only motivation to move. But I lived in my last house for over 30 years, so I don't just pick up and go. And I have a few thoughts of being chased away:

1-I don't like the idea of self-segregating by ideology. No good is served. It's a shallow thought-gene pool.
2-These days I fear that those of us with non-compliant thoughts are at real risk. We should not aggregate.
3-I won't retreat, to the extent my presence serves a purpose.
4-It's easier to effect change from within than from without.

However, we got Terry McAuliffe (friend of Bill & Hill) making a run for a second term as governor. *sigh*

Well, Yvonne, we don't, and haven't since May 2002, lived anywhere close to relatives. We are states away from them and that's fine with us.

This is different for different people. You have relatives, but not any children that you have raised, and you might feel different if you had children and not just family members (or you might not ?) .
My three children are my only close relatives in the whole world, and mean more to me than anything in my life, and I miss being able to actually see them and give them a hug.
I realize that not everyone feels the same as I do, and I am glad that you are happy being away from your relatives, Cody.

My oldest grandson lives in Western Washington, and since he is a pilot, he can get free airplane tickets for himself and his immediate family, so I would at least be able to visit with them more than I can do right now.
My oldest son and his wife make trips to the west coast a lot to visit their son and granddaughter, plus I have “in-law” relatives from my first marriage who all live on the Washington coast somewhere and they are like family to me.

I live where I live mainly because all my children and grandchildren live here and a couple of my siblings too.

I'm like Yvonne...my children and grandchildren are the most important part of my life on earth. If I didn't have them I would be living in Florida with most of my sisters.

We have been in this house since it was built in 1994, and don't see ourselves leaving. This is home and all that's familiar, including friends. Our children are scattered around the state except for our oldest son who lives in Oregon. My husband's mother and siblings live in this area, and I know that as long as my MIL is alive my husband would not consider moving away from her; he is too involved in her care. We are happy right here so here we shall remain.

My kids like that they can contact me but no one wants to live close except one daughter. I feel the same.
I am a prepper so moving would be difficult. I am set up for most eventuallities. I HATE moving. It involves packing. And I am too old for that. Been here most of my life. My husband had to drag me, kicking and screaming, from our last house.

I've thought about moving where the cost of living is cheaper, but I haven't found anywhere I'd be more comfortable nor more beautiful than the Seattle area.

The only temptations might be another state without a state income tax, but Alaska is too remote from family, Florida--eh, been there done that, not my thing, Nevada - yuk desert, South Dakota-- there's no there there, Texas and Tennessee--not in a million due to humidity and politics, New Hampshire is too expensive and still taxes investment income as far as I know. Wyoming is a slight possibility, but lacks most of the things I like that Washington has and not enough kindred spirits there to make it worthwhile.

If I were young enough to be a digital nomad, I might try that for a decade or so. The romantic idea of being an ex-pat seems fun, and I'd love to live in Europe again.

Just moved in March from Ohio to Florida. This was my 5th move since I retired 13 years ago, and i hope my last.
