Wow. At least Towson is north of most of the mess known as The Washington/Baltimore area. And you'll be doing this on a weekend, which should help. Philly to Towson isn't all that far, and you won't already be road-weary since you're flying there. That's a smart (sane) move. I've done 11 hours from DC to Atlanta in a single day, but "younger days." Safe travels, buddy!
I have only flown once since 2001, and I'm not missing it. My 7:30 am flight was delayed until 2:00, and then delayed again until 4:00. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have started off driving yesterday, as I had originally planned. Airports are crazy and I wish I'd never agreed to do this.
I got the sense that your last statement applied regardless and you were bound by your word, but I did not want to stick my nose in the middle. Been there/done that. You must have arrived at the airport at 6:00AM or so. What a friggin' nightmare. There's little that compares with being stuck at an airport for such an extended period of time. Were those weather delays impacting a puddle-jumper airlines? I guess all other plans got shoved forward by a day, including any return trip reservations you've made. I feel for you. This, too, shall pass.
I made the truck trip safely. Other than construction, with narrowed lanes and a concrete barrier on my right, it was a pretty easy trip. I didn't run into much traffic until I was nearly here, but I got here just before noon.
Heck, it should be nice out so why not hitch a ride at a truck stop? You might even make a few bucks lumpin’ a load! Could be a career changer.
I really want to take a long-ish road trip this summer. I'm in search of the perfect place -- cool weather, strong wifi, not many tourists, interesting cuisine, comfortable lodging, good photography. Anyone have suggestions in the Pacific Northwest?
Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho. Cool..ish, strong Wifi in some places, very few if any tourists, varied cuisine, lodging at the Kootenai Inn and Casino as well as some smaller motels, and good photography well, let’s just say after a couple of looks at those mountains, a photograph will not do it justice. You will not willingly leave until winter which could happen at any time of the year …..or not until the Real winter, which could happen at any time….or not.
I'm home. I'm sorry but I have been very busy with the move, and my cellular plan wouldn't catch a usable hotspot connection from there and, to top it off, although I paid to go business class on the train, Amtrak's Internet didn't work either. I could get online via my hotspot but I kept losing the connection, probably as we passed from one tower area to another, at which time it would reconnect me to the non-working Amtrak connection. But I am home. All in all, it was tough, and I am behind on my work. Oh, the essential part of it - getting the truck from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Towson, Maryland - went fine. It turned out to be a pretty easy trip. But there wasn't much time, facilities, or capabilities of getting online to do much. It was a lot of hard work that I don't think I ever want to do again.
