Nike's newest product -- vegan shoes. What? Yep, shoes made from pineapple leather. No cows required. Coming next? Bathing suits made from Fruit Roll Ups, maybe? Would you buy these?
It makes no sense to me to be concerned about saving a cow, but believing it is okay to make the shoes using Chinese slave labor, which Nike has been accused of doing for many years. The particular shoe pictured might not be made of leather, but if you look up the one make for Kaepernick, it say it is black leather and suede leather; so it is not like the company cares about either animals or human beings. https://nypost.com/2020/07/25/nike-...ice-and-atone-for-using-slave-labor-in-china/
I think no one knew you meant this as a joke, D’Ellyn. I can delete this whole thread and you can repost it in humor if you want to do that ?
Oh @Yvonne Smith, doesn't matter to me. Responses here are fascinating. Mostly I found it funny that shoes are being sold that are made from pineapple leaves instead of animal leather.
.NO, on the fruit rollup swimsuit. I am a two-piece girl and wear bikinis made from natural stretchy nonfruit organic plant fibers and occasionally don coconut shells as bra cup inserts when the paparazzi is present. I had rather go barefoot and wade in a river of buzzard puke than wear Nikes.
