Ken, do I see the glimmerings of a sense of humor in that post? One can only hope. I think we know each other well enough for me to rib you a little.
If you want to grow some perennial Jerusalem artichokes, @Dwight Ward , or @Ken Anderson ; we should have lots of tubers that I can send later this fall. Once planted, they come back each year, and the tubers are edible if you want to forage them. They look like yellow daisies, but are part of the sunflower family, and can grow 5-6 feet tall each year.
I found an inexpensive hummingbird feeder. It attaches to a window with a suction cup. The guy at the hardware store said that the songbird illness wouldn't affect hummingbirds because they don't feed with other birds. He also said to add red dye to the food but Audubon recommended not to. I'm curious as to how any hummingbird could discover the feeder, since they don't come in my yard in the normal course of things.
Do you have to take it off the window every time you fill it? I wouldn't trust the suction cup to hold. You probably wouldn't notice hummers if they are around. They are very shy at first. They will find it. I don't add red dye. Just sugar water. The feeder being red will attract them.
The bracket that attaches to the suction cup has a hole which I could use to tack it to the window molding above the glass. If I use a finish nail it will come off and go back on easily. I'll probably do that. Yes, I will have to take it off the window to fill it each time.
